Poor Bedside Manner/Condescending + lack of results + waste of consult fee

Without divulging the details of my situation, I came in with a complex estate matter needing actionable guidance. Unfortunately, a significant portion of our 30-minute consultation ($350) was spent being lectured about why I should have sought help sooner, and listening to background on the attorney...'s own credentials... neither of which moved my situation forward. Other attorneys I consulted were ultimately able to provide the solutions I needed, so the issues were solvable..they just weren't addressed here. Ms. Fershteyn may well be competent and may have genuinely helped others. But for what is a meaningful sum of money for most people, I'd expect the focus to be on the client's problem rather than the consultation itself. Bedside manner matters, especially in elder law where clients are often already under considerable stress.

My goal in every meeting is to understand a client’s situation and provide practical guidance within the time available. For clarity, your consultation was scheduled for 30 minutes, and you arrived approximately one hour late after notifying our office that you would be delayed. Because your appointment was the final one of the day, my staff and I remained after hours so that we could still accommodate you rather than cancel the meeting. During our time together, I reviewed the documents you brought, including the trust agreement, and discussed the legal issues you raised. I also provided guidance regarding the landlord-tenant matter, including directing you to the appropriate court process for eviction and suggesting steps to address the reported harassment. Your situation involved multiple legal issues, and part of the consultation included explaining the legal framework so that the available options and next steps could be understood. I understand that legal matters can be stressful, and I wish you the best in resolving your situation.
