Best Attorney!
I was in removal proceedings and had a very difficult case. Many lawyers did not want to take my case on. I had switched 3 lawyers in the process. Thankfully to Paul's professionalism, I was able to keep my green card. I could not recommend more to hire this attorney!!!

Success!
Mr. Grotas and his staff at The Grotas Firm are extremely knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful! They were always in constant contact, providing us with the necessary forms/applications required, and keeping us aware of each step along the way during our immigration process. This was very helpful, especially since my husband & I live out of state. We were successful in obtaining a green card for my husband, and we do thank you!

Paul is an Excellent VAWA Attorney!
I rarely write reviews for any one, however, I am very pleased to say that Atty. Grotas has saved my brother from the horrible situation he was in while married to a abusive US Citizen. Me and brother sought the advice of Paul after reading great reviews on this website. i was skeptical at first but as soon as we met him in his modest office in Manhattan, I have come to realize that this lawyer is very sincere and highly skilled. He was very emphatic to what happened to my brother. He helped us submit a substantial amount of evidence to USCIS. I do not wish to give out any more details BUT a few weeks ago, my brother's VAWA petition was approved without having to submit any further evidence to USCIS. We are currently waiting for his EAD and Green Card and finally...MY BROTHER CAN LIVE AND MOVE ON WITH HIS LIFE, PURSUING HIS OWN AMERICAN DREAM!!! Thank you Paul and to your faithful assistant Viviana...G

Great Lawyer
I met Paul while on detention. He told me that I have a good case for a release and in the time frame provided I was home with my family. My case is not over yet, but I sleep better a night knowing that he is my lawyer.

Immigration
Paul Grotas is an excellent attorney who was able to get my husband out of immigration jail with the threat of deportation. I recommend him to help other people fight immigration charges because he is a very hard working and reliable attorney.

Best Immigration Lawyer in NY
I had the unfortunate fate of being detained by ICE or the immigration authorities recently and while in detention consulted with a lawyer who advised me to voluntarily accept deportation and that he would get me back to the US and my family with six months. He said this because he believed that I would be detained for a year or longer. Such a suggestion of leaving the US did not sit well with me and the thought of separation from my children, in another country, seemed unbearable. As a result I immediately went looking for a new immigration attorney and found Paul Grotas. On my first meeting with Paul he put me at complete ease and reassured me that he would have me out in no time and on follow up meetings the same message was conveyed to me. This positive response that I got from Paul really put my heart, mind and soul in a peaceful state. As it tuned out he was also representing other detainees whom had a similar high regard for him and the news was that he was getting people out of jail and back to their families. My case had complications but nevertheless on the first court appearance that I had( three weeks later) he was able to skillfully get me released. I can't thank him enough nor can my family.

Exceptional service, outstanding support.
Paul was outstanding in assisting me to secure a working VISA coming from Canada. His kept us privy every step of the way and always helped to clarify our questions in a time sensitive manner. We were able to achieve the result we were aiming for and I would highly recommend Paul as his level of professionalism and matter of fact approach was hugely beneficial in understanding the process from start to finish. Whether the need is personal or professional I am exceedingly confident Paul will deliver the services necessary and leave you feeling assured you made the right decision.

Paul Grotas
My son-in-law was behind an 8ball and facing almost certain deportation to El Salvador. This would've been a death sentence due to gang threats made to he and his family. He was held in New York/New Jersey and we were in Denver. Two other lawyers had agreed to take the case but did nothing except take several thousands of dollars and file no court documents. I talked with a friend whose brother knew and recommended Paul. We were very impressed with Paul's attitude from the start. Even though other attorneys had said that there was no chance of our son-in-law avoiding a deportation order, Paul agreed to take the case. From the start there was frequent and open communications between Paul, our daughter and me. After several court appearances which included lengthy testimony from my son-in-law, my daughter and me we had to await the court's decision which took several months. Paul maintained contact with and updated us frequently. Finally the decision was in. Although complete amnesty wasn't granted, our son-in-law was allowed to stay in the United States and return to his family in Colorado. His one and a half year old daughter was finally able to meet her dad. Without Paul's knowledge of the law and his perseverance through out this procedure I feel that a deportation order would've issued. THANK YOU PAUL!!!!!

Best immigration lawyer!
We hired Paul as our immigration lawyer for our brother and would not have chose anyone else. He attended every court date on time (earlier to be exact) fights every angle of a case, as well as informing the family every step of the way. He is honest about what the case is looking like but confident he will win which we did! Thank you Paul for bringing back our brother and if anyone is looking for a immigration layer I highly recommend Paul Grotas! Good luck ! Thank you again Paul for all your hard work.

Solid attorney who will go to bat for you
Paul connects both personally and professionally and invests himself in the case. He is insightful and to the point, which alleviates a significant amount of anxiety during the litigation process. I also appreciated Paul's calculated approach in coordinating with my other attorney and managing my expectations so that we have a comprehensive approach to the case. He is someone you would want on your team with regards to immigration matters.

Paul Grotas, The Best Attorney For Your Family
My wife and I needed a good immigration attorney so we asked friends, the Bar Association and searched the Internet. We interviewed two very highly recommended lawyers prior to deciding on Paul Grotas. We took this case very seriously and we were not going to settle for someone who didn't appreciate the gravity of it or seem to care about our family too. The other two tried to scare us with deportation issues or they told us one thing but were lax on follow through. This was a lot of money and more importantly it was about family staying together. Paul responded to one of our on-line searches and stayed on the phone with me for 20 minutes or more answering my questions. He actually gave me important information on papers I had already filed myself. I told him I had already agreed to evaluate our case with another attorney but that I would get back to him and let him know my decision in a few weeks. I contacted him again to ask him a question on the case. He answered my questions directly and honestly without any "contract" or other agreement. When my wife and I decided that Paul was the most reasonable in cost and showed the most knowledge by relaying to me information that had already helped us; we arranged to meet with him to discuss the details. Paul came to our house and sat down with us and discussed the case for 90 minutes. He made sure we were comfortable with all the decisions and steps necessary. In the past 8 months every step has turned out just as he believed it would and we are on our way to finalizing the case in a few months. I have called or E-mailed him no fewer than 20 times and he has always taken my call or responded promptly. Paul is an excellent attorney and what's more, he is a good man that you can count on to help you through your case with integrity and professionalism. He is a great attorney for your family.

We Won!! Thank you Mr. Paul Grotas
Mr. Grotas was hired by my husband who had gotten himself into trouble with immigration. Working with Mr. Grotas for almost 1 year was a very intense and time consuming journey. Mr. Grotas was very fair and paid close attention to detail, he knew what documents were needed to win the case. Mr. Grotas was always willing to take time and discuss any concerns via telephone or through emails. Mr. Grotas shows passion in his work. My husband is home and I thank you Mr. Grotas.

disappointed
I was absolutely desperate wham I stepped in to the office of Mr. Grotas, Esq... That day me husband had been arrested by ICE officers. Mr. Grotas give me hope, although the case was complicated, he would be able to bring it to successful conclusion. He evaluated his services $ 15 000 and asked for $ 7 000 up front. I was desperate to save my husband's life that I was prepared to not only give him all my savings, but sell all my belongings as well. Mr. Grotas saw that I was willing to go to any length and sacrifice everything to help my husband and decided to “stretch” the situation in order to get more money out of me. After one week, before completing and filing “motion to Reopen” he asked me for another $ 5 000 just to keep my husband in the same jail. He was in no rush to send “motion to Reopen”, saying that he is missing some reports, all the while asking me to give him more money. At that point I decided to take the case to another attorney where I did not have to pay $ 5 000 and yet my husband was not transferred to another jail. When Mr. Paul Grotas was asked to release all paperwork pertaining to my husband's case, he did not bother to even answer for while. Purposely trying to give me a hard time he would not present all the papers that were required. He only filed Form I-130 and charged me $ 6400 for arranging one visit in jail with my husband and 2 appointments with me. After 7 month of asking for detailed account of his services I received a bill. Needless to say, I was shocked. Mr. Grotas, unfortunately, is not the first dishonest attorney that I has come across in my life, however, he is much smarter and shiftier. I feel sorry that he uses his talent and abilities only for personal gain instead of trying to help when he can.

Response from Paul Grotas July 1, 2016
I am very sorry that she had this experience. I exhausted every avenue of relief to help her husband. Unfortunately, I was scheduled to travel to Djibouti to help Yemeni refugees for one week. I instructed my office staff how to competently proceed with this matter while I was away. She came to my office and demanded to talk to me and demanded that all work be completed despite the fact that it was very complicated. My assistant tried to arrange for a conference call with her so that I could explain that the legal writing was very complicated. This was not good enough. A few days later I returned from Djibouti, and Ms. Janhashia found a new attorney. I tried to speak to her and her husband, but they refused to talk to me. I treat all of my client’s like family and I hope that my clients will continue to have realistic expectations based upon the information that I provide them and my availability to discuss their matters with them. Working with refugees is something that I am passionate about and I am sorry that Ms. Janhashia felt like I was not attending to her matter.

Big Mistake
Worst attorney ever! He is a liar, unreliable, irresposinble, unexperienced, careless attorney. He will reassure you to take on your case and make it seem easy to win just to take your money. Hiring this man was the worst mistake of my life.. I was going through a very hard situation at the time and he did not care. He was always on time to ask for payments but never available when i needed to speak to him he never submitted paper work on time, missed court dates.. He even got the judge angry for not doing his job. We won the case through a public attorney after I gave up on hiring another attorney. Save your money and a headache.

This review was not posted by a client. It was posted by his mother. The client's case was incredibly complex and time consuming. I explained the timeline to them when the case started. His mother became increasingly mad at me because she wanted results immediately. I give all of my clients my cell phone. She would call me in the middle of the night and on weekends to yell at me. She would show up at my office to do the same. I answered all of her phone calls in a professional manner. I could no longer represent her son because of unrealistic expectations. I showed up to every court appearance on time and I have a very good relationship with every immigration judge. I shared my strategy with the next attorney and I am glad that it worked out for them.
