Super-smart, highly skilled, exceptionally knowledgeable, very generous & infinitely helpful with IP/publishing/copyright issues

Mr. Natoli's IP advice on copyright and defamation risk for my publications was unparalleled. As a self-publisher, I have a semi-decent understanding of the relevant law, but he really put a fine point on it and totally eliminated all of the gray areas--and potential risk involved. I can sleep at nig...ht and proceed with my publishing projects without fear of suit thanks to Mr. Natoli's advice and insight. Down-to-earth, patient, and practical, he is absolutely one of the best attorneys you could have the pleasure to consult and work with. I look forward to consulting with him on future projects for peace of mind, because that's what you'll have after speaking with him and following his legal advice. He's very illustrative and explains the law in plain English. I very highly recommend him.

Too busy to provide evidence of past work

I was looking for an attorney with specific experience in software licenses for my business. Getting the license wrong could cost me millions of $ in lost revenue. When we spoke, he claimed that his partner had that experience, but couldn't give me specifics. There are many types of software lic...enses. I needed to know what type of licenses he had worked on in the past. I followed up with an email asking for information from his partner "regarding the types of software licenses that he has done". He responded with, "we are far too busy to invest that kind of time to try and win one engagement from a potential client." He continued stating that he had already told me that they are capable in this area even though he never gave me any evidence of it. He also stated, "Try doing that with your doctor." Well, that's what smart people do! If your doctor is going to do surgery on you, you'd ask him how many times have he's done this before and the outcomes. You would have also researched the doctor's knowledge in that specific field. You'd gather evidence of competence before handing over your life. Here, I'm gathering evidence of competence before handing over the life of my business. It should have been simple to provide that list. In fact, they should have it ready to give out to potential clients. This would save them (and us!) much time. On the positive side, he was very friendly to speak with. In his email, he also provided some good advice: "If you want to ensure you are getting top-flight counsel with deep expertise in a given area I suggest you go with a clearly recognizable and full-service practice." So I did.

The above criticism falls under the category of "no good deed goes unpunished." Abe Lincoln, I believe, said that time is the lawyer's stock in trade. With that in mind, about three months ago I afforded this person roughly 45 minutes of my time on a phone consult where we discussed all manners of his legal need, as well as our relevant expertise and experience across many industries as it related to the kind of licensing agreement he was seeking. It was abundantly clear that we were well-versed in this area. After the call, I spent another 20 minutes or so preparing a written proposal which I sent. He then followed up asking that we provide specific examples of prior work that were relevant to his specific matter (basically a summary of what we already discussed on our call), which would have taken even more considerable time and at this point I was already over an hour in and with zero commitment. We simply were not in a position to take more time as it becomes a risk/benefit analysis and that is something any business has to be conscious of so I sent the following message: "[name omitted]," we are far too busy to invest that kind of time to try and win one engagement from a potential client. If you want to ensure you are getting top-flight counsel with deep expertise in a given area I suggest you go with a clearly recognizable and full-service practice. Of course, they will all require a retainer deposit of anywhere from 10-20K and bill out at a range of $400-800 per hour for every six minutes of time on average. So I state the obvious when I say this is a cost-benefit analysis for you. Let me know if you think we can be of service. All the best, Frank" This client never hired us and I assume found suitable counsel to work with. But instead of thanking us for all the time we did give to him with no obligation and having not been paid for it, he decided to leave this rather mean-spirited review.

Very good. Helped me a lot!

I had some questions about some trademark and copyright infringement problems that I posted on the site so I contacted Frank in private to help me. Not only that he helped me very quick and with a lot of informations he also didn't charge me anything! I am really impressed and I really recommend F...rank if you have legal problems.

Consultation

I discovered Mr. Natoli through a highly recommended referral and was offered a free consultation. He spent nearly 30 or 40 minutes on the phone with me answering my questions and giving me invaluable information regarding internet law, business entity formation, and trademark applications. He didn't... rush me at all and wanted to make assure all of my questions were answered thoroughly. This made me very comfortable as I am looking forward to retaining Mr. Natoli for my legal necessities.
