Jennifer handled a tricky case of someone very close to me, where a "landlord" had filed a lawsuit in Civil Court (Housing Section) based on false and misleading information regarding monies owed in back maintenance (rent) and other questionable components. Jennifer handled the case with skill, and ...was persistent and patient in demanding of the landlord's attorneys written justification for the dollar numbers in the court petition. After attempting various tactics of distraction and pressure to settle, the attorneys were unable to justify any of the dollar numbers in the court petition. Jennifer held her ground and at the last second the case settled under the best terms one could reasonably expect. Finally, Jenner's fees were very reasonable, and unlike many attorneys, she was very sensitive and mindful of the limited resources of her client. (I should add than my involvement in the case was voluntary in that I used my expertise to study the monthly billings and landlord spread-sheets in order to get to the bottom of the financial confusion that appeared to be the driver for the case.)

Ms. Addonizio really knows what she is doing and what to do to help those in need of her assistance. I hired Ms. Addonizio to assist with a case in NY housing court. She was extremely knowledgeable on the topic an immediately knew the steps that were needed to resolve the issue. In the past, I've made the mistake of using one primary lawyer for all needs and had them muddle through areas where they ...are not as familiar - racking up unnecessary hours/cost. This was one of the smoothest legal processes I've ever had. I had a time constraint, and I was amazed at how quickly this lawyer was able to move the process forward. This lawyer comes highly recommended from me as she is very smart and quite good at her job. I had to sue my former landlord - a management company that fraudulently took $2,500 out of my security deposit for allegedly priming & painting white the walls of my miniature manhattan apartment. They c...laimed I violated my lease in leaving colored walls and that it cost them $2500 to paint the walls white again. Meanwhile, I had spent close to 15 hours with another person priming and painting the apartment walls white - we did 3 coats and the walls looked great. I disputed the charges, but they refused to give my money back, so I had to sue. A friend recommended Jennifer Addonizio, said she was a smart and talented lawyer, so I went to her for legal advice. Ms. Addonizio listened to my story, read my lease, and gave me pretty specific and helpful legal advice. She explained to me that I fulfilled all my requirements in the lease, that the alleged cost of these services were unjustified and unreasonable, that I left the apartment in good condition with the walls white / fixtures intact / clean / broom-swept, and that I had a witness to attest to the condition of the apartment (and who needed to accompany me to court). Ms. Addonizio advised me on how to prepare my case for the judge in a clear and compelling manner. She provided feedback on the content and delivery of my testimony, which were the critiques that I needed to improve my case, my effectiveness and confidence to nail it. Ms. Addonizio advised me specifically what the landlord would have to provide to prove they really incurred these alleged damages (i.e. supporting documents such as photos, invoices, receipts, canceled checks, etc.) -- specific items that I wouldn't of thought of or known myself -- which needless to say came in handy on my court date. She prepared me on how to cross-examine these documents should the landlord present them in court - which they did. Due to Ms. Addonizio's instruction, I was well prepared to analyze and dispute - on the spot in court - the bogus documents the landlord produced, and pointed out to the judge the questionable items and the inconsistencies in their documents and story. I consider myself to be a smart person too, but I definitely would have been unprepared and caught off guard had I not received Jen's direction. She was hands down my most helpful resource --- more helpful than days of google research and substantially more helpful than my non-lawyer friends' advice. Needless to say, thanks to Jen Addonizio I had a successful court case and won back my full $2,500 security deposit back plus $232 in interest - awarded $2,732 in total.

During an extremely stressful time I had the very good fortune to work with Jennifer Addonizio and James Fishman, though Jennifer was my primary contact and the person who most often represented me in court. The nature of my case related to my 90 year old mother and was very difficult to deal with em...otionally and financially. Jennifer was efficient and professional when handling all the legal issues, papers, etc, but importantly she was also very compassionate. She offered suggestions and options that showed sensitivity to the pressure I was under and offered heartfelt recommendations that inevitably proved to be the correct legal choice. My father was an attorney and several members of my family are also attorneys so I am somewhat familiar with the legal process and procedures, however nothing ever prepares you for looking after an aging parents' interests.
