Biography

I am an experienced trial lawyer practicing in Northern New Hampshire, primarily serving Coos, Carrol and Grafton County. I have successfully argued more jury trials than any other defense lawyer in Coos County. I have been representing people in criminal cases for over twenty years.

I am recognized by my peers as possessing exceptional knowledge in the field of DWI. I have served on an editorial board for James Publishing, Inc. and written a chapter on breath testing in a book to be published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE) focusing on New Hampshire DWI defense. I have been a presenter and chair person of New Hampshire defense lawyer trainings sponsored by the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association on Advanced DWI Defense.

I am certified according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to administer the standardized field sobriety tests (horizontal gaze nystagmus, walk and turn, and one leg stand.) I am also certified to operate, maintain and repair the Intoxilyzer 5000. I have been certified to operate the Intoxilyzer 8000, the SD-5 and Intoximeter FST and taken advanced forensic blood classes. I am a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. I am better trained than the police officer who arrested you. I have the experience to focus on the proper methods to attack the state's case against you and win.

I am available 24 hours a day for emergency consultations.

Harden Law Offices was established in June of 2003. I opened a second office in the summer of 2005 in Littleton to better serve the North Country. In the fall of 2011, I also acquired a Lebanon office. I am willing to meet with clients before or after normal business hours. I take pride in returning calls personally and in handling all of my cases from start to finish.

I have been focusing on criminal defense with a larger firm from southern New Hampshire and managing their office in Lancaster for over 7 years. Prior to my work with the southern firm, I worked in a North Country general practice firm focusing on criminal defense. It was during my time at the general practice firm that I began taking court appointed cases from local courts in northern New Hampshire.

I have been defending cases in northern New Hampshire for over 20years.

Praise to attorney Len Harden!

Having not had any problems in my life regarding alcohol for nearly a decade, I was charged with a DWI in February of this year, and was referred to Len Harden from an attorney in the southern NH area who had represented me in another DWI case nearly 15 years ago. The best thing I did was to hire him... as my lawyer, period. Attorney Harden brought the charge down from a felony to a Class B misdemeanor, moving it from Superior to District Court. Through his knowledge, pull, and respect as a local legal force to be reckoned with, attorney Harden was able to further plea my case down to a first offense, removing any possibility of jail time, and shaving almost 4 years off of my potential license loss. I cannot express how grateful I am for this. I also would like to add that through the entire ordeal, any questions I had were promptly answered by Amanda at the office, or by Len himself, mostly within a couple hours after they were asked. Every step of the way was explained clearly and concisely, and inside I just knew I had a very strong player on my team. I have the utmost confidence, and respect for this man. Thank you Len!

Top notch, knowledgeable, defense attorney

I got referred to Len, by a couple of top attorneys from southern New Hampshire. I reside near the Boston area and got pulled over in October 2016 for a headlight out in Berlin NH. I was subsequently arrested for possession of and transporting in a motor vehicle a controlled substance, Marijuana. ...These charges were a class B misdemeanor with the transportation charge carrying a mandatory loss of drivers license for 60 days. Soon after my arrest I had an initial consultation with Attorney Harden. He informed me that at my arraignment, the DA would offered to drop the transportation charge if I was willing to plead guilty to the possession charge. This would have been an acceptable, free advice for some but I was unable to plea guilty to a criminal charge due to many circumstances in my life. We spoke that first time for about half hour all on his dime, about other options. It was obvious to me that I was in good hands and agreed to hire him. After negotiations with the DA, Len was able to get all criminal charges dropped and reduced to a violation for knowingly transporting a controlled substance, marijuana in a motor vehicle. An amazing result considering the police had me on body camera, I willfully handed over the pot and there was no denying the possession. From my perspective, to walk away without any guilty plea of possession or transportation of a controlled substance or paraphernalia was only possible from Len's incredible interpretation of the marijuana laws in New Hampshire. Furthermore, in 12 months I can petition the court to have the case and violation completely annulled. I would highly recommend his services if you have criminal issues in northern NH. In closing, I owe Attorney Harden the most sincere thanks for understanding and addressing my needs in this case. I can only hope to cross paths again under much different circumstance, lol.

Great Communication

Class act

On April 29, 2016, I was arrested for a first offense DWI. I had only ever had a speeding ticket in the 37 years of driving my own vehicles and commercial trucks. I didn't know what to do and was very upset that I had been dumb enough to get behind the wheel. One of my best friends recommended Len a...nd it was the best thing I could have ever done. Len has a very likeable personality which made a stressful situation a lot easier to deal with. Len didn't have much to work with because my big mouth at my time of the arrest didn't make it easy for him. When it came to court day Len let the arresting cop "have it", Len quickly picked up on false statements of the trooper and found ways to defend me in ways that made my jaw drop. I know that if I didn't have Len on my side it would have been a much worse outcome. Thank you Len, Craig.

Great Lawyer

Len provided excellent advice in all aspects of my case. He walked me through the entire criminal prosecution process. I never anticipated that I would be arrested for anything but when I was I was glad to have someone like Len help me through it.
