Cynthia was an amazing, diligent, knowledgeable; I was lucky and grateful to have her represent me. She never gave up and she pressured the DA to dismiss my Felony Theft charge from a previous employer. I have never been in trouble with the law so you can imagine how scared and clueless I was regarding all of this but Cynthia reassured me and always was honest about the case and where it stood at all times. I will recommend her to anyone and everyone; she saved my career and life! Thank you Cynthia and I will always be forever grateful for all your hard work and dedication.

My Ex lied and had a restraining order placed against me. There is no way I could have represented myself and I think you need an attorney like Cynthia in your corner when you are being falsly accused. Other than doing an excellent job fighting for you in the courtroom... Cythia is a down to earth person who is easy to talk with and won't make you feel uncomfortable about an already tough situation. If you need a lawyer to defend you I highly recommend Cynthia.

Our teenage son made a mistake by entering a neighbor's home with some other kids while the owners were out of town. The owner's children grew up with ours so the kids did not realize the significance of their poor choice. They had spent the night at the neighbor's home many times before.
The neighbors were very upset upon return (as they should have been). They called the Police and had my son arrested.
Even though what the kids did was wrong, it was not "breaking and entering". The family was upset and wanted all the kids in jail. A very difficult situation to say the least.
We engaged Cynthia for help. She was thorough, understanding and well prepared at all times. She asked hard questions to uncover the truth and never compromised on her integrity.
When the court date finally came around, Cynthia negotiated with the prosecutor that a criminal record for our son was the wrong thing to do. She stood up for our son and would not budge. While the other kids involved were cutting deals with their attorney, Cynthia stood firm in what she believed was right. She would not allow a fine young man to suffer for a poor choice he made.
Our son was given community service with no conviction on his record. The final outcome of a very difficult situation was a success.
I highly recommend Cynthia to family and friends.

I would highly recommend Cynthia for anyone seeking a criminal lawyer, especially in a domestic violence case. I was charged with “assault on a family member” and Cynthia got the charge DISMISSED!! thank god!!. This was a very difficult ordeal for me, considering i am in the professional workforce and this type of charge on my record would have been detrimental to my career.
Cynthia was the second lawyer i hired for this case, and she was very diligent to know all aspects of the event and took endless notes to prepare for the event we would go to trial, considering i wanted nothing more than “not guilty” or a dismissal.
Luckily we didn't go to trial, the DA dismissed the case, and the reason my case was dismissed had to do with the way cynthia would fight for me in her conversations with the DA. She would consistently challenge all charges brought against me, and the DA finally decided the case was not worth pursuing and moved for a dismissal. Awesome job!!
To anyone considering Cynthia, all i have to say is this woman will fight for you, she does not like to lose.
Thank you Cynthia, you brought peace and sanity back in my life. i am in debt to you.
Lawyer’s Comment:
Shawn was a great client to work with. He shared everything about the situation with me and gave me great insight regarding the complainant and other witnesses. As he says, I took "endless notes" as I always do because it helps me be the best lawyer I can be for my client - and Shawn not only tolerated the required time input but helped with his comments and observations. This man was truly innocent, and frankly a victim himself of the complainant. Once again, it made me happy to be able to do what I love - helping people who do not deserve what is being meted out to them. Thanks, Shawn, for trusting me with your freedom and your life.

Ms.Henley is an experienced(23 years) and professional lawyer. she knows the system very well. so she can give you outcomes as your reference before go to the court. She really takes care of her clients, like me a foreigner, my English is not that good, she spent a lot of time communicating with me via email. From my case, I feel Ms.Henley really want to get you out of trouble, not just take advantage of your disaster. Ms.Henley charges you at a reasonable rate, she is not a greedy lawyer. before I went to her, a lawyer even want to charge me almost triple price that Ms.Henley asked. I think the reason is, Ms.Henley loves her profession, she enjoys helping people out of trouble. she works at home, saves a lot of money for renting a office. all in all, it is not easy to find a lawyer with best service and good price. I am very thankful to Ms.Henley, finally, my wife got out of trouble within 10 days. She really helps a desperate 'single father' who have to work, study, and take care of a one and a half year old baby. I highly recommended Ms.Henley!
Lawyer’s Comment:
I appreciated the opportunity to help this gentleman and his wife. Sadly too often lawyers do not take the time to understand the pain and suffering that clients and their family's suffer. I had the chance to talk with this man about the situation, and he shared his pain of why his wife was where she was. I am pleased that I was able to get this woman back to her family immediately. And, I enjoyed sharing a moment of watching a humming bird at a feeder outside my office window with the husband. It gave him a few minutes of sanity and beauty, which helped him come back into focus on the fact that situation could be handled. A wonderful ending to a stressful time. I smile thinking of his peace of seeing that bird - something he had not experienced before.

I called Ms. Henley with a problem i had gotten into. We met a few times and discussed my case. She even assured me that she would handle it and take care of me. I thought I had everything taken care of. Then the day of my court, I am waiting for my lawyer, Ms. Henley, to arrive and she is a no-show!! I called her several times and at the last moment she answered saying she is not showing up!!
Extremely UNprofessional and inconsiderate! It was my first time and so naturally I was very nervous and completely dependent on her. As my lawyer I would have expected her to at least give me a heads up she's not going to be able to make it, but instead she waited till after the court meeting to let me know!
Needless to say, I dropped her. I would NOT recommend her to anyone! You never know if she will show up or not!
Lawyer’s Comment:
This is a false posting. I have never met with a client "a few times" before a court appearance (as that is not the way that the system works) nor have I ever called on the day of court to say that I am not showing up if I am hired to represent someone. (I have had a couple of instances in which I got tied up in a court and was quite late to a client's appearance which was not within my control, and over 23 years I have miscalendared a couple of cases, but I do not do this to people.)
This person does not mention hiring me - paying me to represent them - because this never happened. The only person with whom I have had a fee issue denies writing this so I can only guess at the identity of this writer. As you can tell by my other client reviews, this is not about me. I challenge this writer to contact me to discuss the issue they claim to have had with me.

Despite my complaint and flagging to AVVO that this is a false posting that should be investigated, nothing has been done. I consider this posting to be libelous at best. I challenge the poster to come forward for further discussion.

My case was handled in a fast professional manner in record time. I can not say enough good things about Ms. Henley and her style of work. Very causual and relaxed which helped during a very trying time. Always pick an attorney who knows the system. Ms. Henley does know the system and makes it work for you.

Thank you so much for your prompt answer to my question about a teen-age granddaughter who won't go to school. Obviously, you are knowledgeable in this area and I very much appreciate you taking the time to respond to me online.
Lawyer’s Comment:
I enjoy answering AVVO questions as I feel that there are many people who either cannot afford a lawyer or have questions that do not require they hire a lawyer but just need a few minutes of someone's time. My parents gave me the opportunity to be able to go to law school and God gave me the ability to help. Thank you for writing this nice posting. You did not have to do it. : )

I faced a serious legal problem with the potential of lengthy jail time as a result of an issue that occurred over 6 years ago. After getting the run-around from several attorneys, I found Cynthia Henley on AVVO and she immediately came to my rescue. She got the charges reduced and I did not have to serve any time. She was understanding, compassionate and effective. And affordable. I would highly recommend her and would use her again if faced with legal problems.
Lawyer’s Comment:
This man had tried his best to handle his situation during his incarceration on other matters but got the runaround. I appreciated the opportunity to work on his case to bring this chapter of his life to a close as he moved on to the wonderful plans he had. He is a hard working person who just needed the chance to begin anew. He deserved it.

Cynthia believes in rehabilitation, knows the system, offers advice on confusing situations, and is an absolute godsend. When the lawyer for my father started slacking I came to Avvo for advice. She provided a through answer to the question, responded to a very long email I sent, and took the time to explain to me the ins and outs of the case, as well as recommend ways to ensure the best possible outcome. I was absolutely blown away by her kindness and helpfulness. I won't hesitate to recommend Cynthia to anyone who needs legal defense in Harris County. She's one of a kind!
Lawyer’s Comment:
Very nice comment and I appreciate it. I enjoy answering questions for people God gave me the opportunity to help via the education my parents paid for, and I hope that I am serving Him by helping others.

i called and called many attorneys in my search for representation, i only got 1 to call me back, or answer any of my questions concerning what should i expect in court; Cynthia Henley. She answered my questions with a peaceful and knowledgeable tone in her voice assuring me of my expectations. i shortly after, went to her office to meet with her, still with out having retainment set, we talked and ultimately decided to go with Cynthia as my council. She stayed on top of new laws concerning my case, keeping me updated every step of the way!! she was like a firecracker, very deliberate and explosive in the courtroom, getting the things that she needed done, and done fast!! without going into detail of my case she told me when we first met that i was in the hardest courtroom in the world, but not to worry, she was going to do everything in her power to keep me protected from having to go to jail. i am so blessed to have Cynthia represent me, she exceeded all expectations of what an amazing attorney should be!! this morning i got a call from her saying that things were over, and i didn't have to worry about showing up for court again (which has stretched out over a 5 month period), because my case got "no-billed". thanks to the hard work Cynthia did i can breathe a sigh of relief, and move forward with my life!! i highly recommend Cynthia, she knows exactly what she is doing and does it extremely well!! Cynthia worked with me from start to finish!! Thank you so much!!
Lawyer’s Comment:
I call this gentleman a kid because he is so much younger than me but he is really a responsible young man who has had many tribulations to overcome, and overcome them he has. He has a good heart and he worked with me doing as I requested. His also has a wonderfully supported family - a plus in any case.

I have contacted a few attorneys today and only spoke to a receptionist or paralegal...when I called Ms. Henley, she didn't treat me like a criminal and knew some people simply just make one mistake due to some personal reasons at certain times in their life. I am one of those people. I am 34 and have a class b misdemeanor for shoplifting. Experienced two deaths recently, depression and anxiety of loved ones including myself. She truly was the nicest attorney I had ever spoken with and I could tell, she really cared and wants to help. I haven't used her yet but after speaking with her due to the confidence she gave me that I have some sort of hope of not going to jail and that there is a light at the end of that tunnel, I don't know how I could possibly go to someone else.

I was in a car accident a couple months ago when my truck lost steering around a turn. I hit four vehicles and was arrested for a FSGI (failure to stop and give info.) Along with a DUI. I blew a .078 which wouldn't be a big deal if I wasn't 20! Now that I've told my story I can tell you the results. Cynthia got all charges dismissed! No probation, no court cost, and the best part...NO restitution! Nothing! I recommend Cynthia Henley to anybody who wants to get off on charges!!!
Lawyer’s Comment:
It was an unfortunate accident in the parking lot of client's apartment. He went up twice to his apartment before police came - he arguably was guilty of FSGI but in equity he was not. As for the DUI, officers told him if he blew under the legal limit, he would not get a DWI. (Difference between being 21 and under in Texas.) He blew under - barely. Problem was, he was the age of no tolerance. I got the prosecutor to keep the officer's promise with regard to the DUI. Took a few resets, but I was glad to help this young man out of trouble as I believe he has a very bright future.

Not only my job but my entire career was at risk when I was charged with a serious criminal offense. Cynthia Henley took the time to listen to my circumstances, recognized the honest mistakes and events beyond my control that were involved, and took a straightforward approach to my defense. Under her counsel, the charges against me were dismissed. Thanks to her persistence, she achieved the dismissal much more rapidly than I expected, taking care of everything out of court and allowing me to return to work with a clean record, a clear conscience, and an immense sense of relief both for myself and my family. Because Ms. Henley handled my case so quickly and efficiently, I did not get to know her well personally. But everything I needed to know about her was demonstrated in her respectful and compassionate handling of my case. I am truly grateful to Ms. Henley for helping me avoid a criminal prosecution that would have changed my life forever.
Lawyer’s Comment:
This client made one court appearance. I advised him of what I needed him to do, and he did it quickly. Once he provided the documentation regarding his employment that I needed, I was able to take the information, talk to the prosecutor before the next setting, and get the case dismissed. The client was then able to get back to his job (which he couldn't have with this case pending nor with a conviction or probation), and his life. I was happy to help him reach a just conclusion.

She is best among the bests. For her it is not about the money. I was an international student , I told her about my case and my problems, can't believe she was so ready to help me and she did too....Most importantly she is a good human being ( not like other greedy attorneys ) with great deal of talent, she is popular in courthouse too......always "yes" for her!!!!

I, Saul Portillo, will refer Cynthia to everyone I know, and have for numerous reasons. For one, she knows the law. She actually cares about the case's out come. I am not really proud to say that I have been in trouble plenty of times, and have come to know lawyers more than anyone should...but i have. Anyhow, this last time i was on parole and facing 18 yrs. in prison, the first person that come to mind was..."Cynthia Henley". She has represented numerous of my "friends", and we all have been happy with the results. She will do anything possible to make sure you a fair trial, and will not back down to anybody. We were suppose to go in front of the Judge for a suppression hearing, but the State dismissed the charges the day of the hearing...Other lawyers had told my brother it was a lost cause, and we should save our money and just go with a court-appointed...I will recommend Mrs. Henley for any criminal case. Thank you Chinthia!

Cynthia is the exception. She is hardworking, personable and a careing lawyer. Cynthia doesn't just work for you, she works with you. Criminal charges had been filed against me. After listening to what I had been charged with and talking with me at length, she took my case. Because of her dedication to my case the truth was heard and the jury agreed. Cynthia is highly recommened by myself, my family and my friends..Thank you once again Cynthia.

Cynthia Henley is an exceptional lawyer that is extremely knowledgeable. I feel fortunate and bless to have her represent me. If you’re looking for a lawyer that always works hard on your behalf I highly recommend Cynthia.
Lawyer’s Comment:
This client was charged with sexually assaulting his (step) granddaughter. We were in trial on this case for 2 1/2 weeks! The prosecutor pulled out all stops in an attempt to get a conviction, including failing to disclose required evidence & other complicated misbehaviors. Despite those hurdles, we had a great jury (except for 2 who had been dishonest.) The jury hung, &, realizing they could never get a conviction, the State dismissed the case. Hopes are that the family can heal & reconnect. Hard trial but wonderfully cooperative client with supportive friends and wife. While these types of cases are emotionally & factually difficult, I am very good at them, and at getting positive results.

Cynthia started representing my son when he was 16 years old. He started down a bad path with the use of steroids and eventually it led to other addictions. One thing led to another, all bad, but Cynthia was there to help us all of the way.
Through her knowledge and her contacts with the bench, DAs, and the such, she always got our son the best justice and addiction help that he could receive. Her fees were always very reasonable and she worked with us on financing.
Two weeks ago my son graduated from a major university with a 4.0 average and was ranked number 1 out of 1271 graduates. He is going into the counseling profession to try to help others.
Without Cynthia's help, he would be incarcerated in Huntsville rather than graduating from a university in Huntsville with a 4.0 average!
Lawyer’s Comment:
This client is very special. He had so much talent it was a shame to see him caught up in his addictions, which led him to the criminal justice system. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to represent him. He will be important in so many lives! He still calls on occasion to thank me, and it really helps boost my continued desire to help people. He also had the awesome support of his family. Congratulations to him for overcoming the obstacles to be so outstanding!

I first hired Ms. Henley to defend me in a DWI case about 20 Yrs. ago. My case was her first for a DWI charge as an attorney. She was absolutely amazing the way she handled the trail in which 7 HPD's testified agains me. She went on to win the case that was decided by a jury and have recommended her to everyone that I know since.
Lawyer’s Comment:
We did get a not guilty. He was actually my second ever trial. My first was a justice of the peace trial that began at 8 p.m. & went until 3 a.m. the night before this client's case began! True to his word, this client has referred numerous friends to me over the year & we have remained in contact. I believed in him, and we got a just verdict.

I, Harold Griffith was a former client of mrs. Henley's. I have never experienced such great treatment. She kept me informed on any and everything, not only pleas but suggested options. I truly felt as if Mrs. Henley was not just only my lawyer, but someone who cares, listens, and is very optimistic. I highly recommend her and her services. she is very professional and knows the law to the fullest extent. Like I said, she is very professional and I will definately refer her to anyone in need of great representation!
-Harold Griffith-
Lawyer’s Comment:
Thanks, Harold. I want to point out that I took Harold as an appointed case. His positive attitude reminded me that everyone, even those with priors & whom outsiders might look down upon, deserve a break & a defense. Harold is a very nice person who got caught up in the system long ago & has had a hard time because of that. Thanks for the recommendation, Harold. It was a pleasure representing you.

Though I am not fond of attorneys in general, Cynthia Henley is amazing! She has handled several situations for me over the last few years and I am convinced that no one could have done it better! Detail oriented, results motivated and a winner in the courtroom best describes Cynthia's approach. Her specialty is criminal defense - of which I had no personal need; however, her handling of my civil cases was remarkable. When the quality of your life hangs on the outcome of your case, make the right call and hire Cynthia!

My legal problem was complicated, but also needed to be handled delicately. I am happy to say Counselor Henly demonstrated the ability to produce a successful resolution. I am thankful she was involved with my case. She showed both compassion and expertise. It made a difference.

Excellent attorney, continuously looking out for your rights and truly concern about your welfare. In addition takes a genuine concern for everyone associated with issues at hand. Will go the extra mile for her clients financially. Cynthia is not your everyday attorney she makes you fell like a fried who is genuinely concern about representing you in a professional and ethical manner.

I hired Cynthia a couple of years ago to help my father-in-law out of a jam. Basically, he was accused of physical violence that simply did not happen. Cynthia was on the job from the first phone call. In my opinion she went above and beyond the call of duty and the case was dismissed. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an attorney who knows how to take charge and make things happen.

We had occasion to use Cynthia's legal representation twice over a five year period. Her client was our daughter and we were very pleased with every aspect of the work Cynthia did. Cynthia is very professional in client relations and always provided us with a realistic view of the proceedings and the outcome she envisioned. If the need alose we would not hesitate to retain Cynthia again nor would we hesitate to recommend her to others.

Lawyer’s Comment:
In addition to being a lawyer, I am a mother so I am often conflicted about the "right" thing, though my "job" is always first. It was no issue in this situation.
It is such a plus to have a family that not only supports their son, but also recognizes the need to respond to their child's "misbehavior". Too many times in today's society, parents blame everyone else when their child makes an unwise decision - and this does NOT sit well with prosecutors (which is understandable.) I love families like this - this young man was truly an outstanding person and will be such a benefit to our community in the years to come. I foresee all of us benefiting from his life.
He made a choice that was not the best and when his parents found out, they laid down the law before the real law became involved. They are to thank for the outcome as they showed the prosecutor that their child's misbehavior would be dealt with properly at home.
The "law" too often intervenes - at least when good families are involved. (This young man wrote a letter of apology without the prompting of his parents or me that would bring a tear to your eye for his genuine embarrassment for his misdeeds.) There was ZERO need for the State of Texas to bother wasting time or resources on this young man and this truly exceptional family.
It was not difficult to stand firm for this young man, and for his family. It was absolutely the right thing to do, and there will be NO regrets on the part of anyone - ever.
Thank you.
