US v. Cruz

Stephen P. Karns

Case Conclusion Date: September 11, 2004

Practice Area: Military Law

Outcome: (Not available)

Description: In 2004, Mr. Karns traveled to Baghdad, Iraq, where he represented a U. S. Army soldier accused of abuses in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. Mr. Karns guided and counseled his client, a decorated Military Intelligence soldier through the plea bargain process securing him one of the lowest sentences among those soldiers sentenced to confinement. Mr. Karns obtained this result by zealously defending his client in the sentencing phase of the proceeding, presenting extensive extenuation and mitigation evidence in his client’s behalf.
