Outcome: Not Guilty Verdict

Description: Paul was found sleeping in the driver's seat of his running truck, in a truck stop parking lot. We argued the "Haanstad" defense: that merely sitting in the driver's seat of a running vehicle is not operation, even if the defendant was intoxicated. The State argued that Paul must have been intoxicated when he drove into the parking lot. The case was tried before a jury in Winnebago County on June 22, 1020. Not Guilty on all counts.
