Attorney Tom Grieve founded Grieve Law, LLC in October of 2013 that now ranks among the largest and most award-winning criminal defense and drunk driving firms in Wisconsin. In 2019, Grieve Law added Divergent Family Law as a new wing to the firm to bring the same focus and proven aggressive strategies to effectively represent clients in family law cases. All of the attorneys at Grieve Law, 20 attorneys and growing across both of the criminal and family law, are proud and honored to be trusted by many thousands of the citizens of Wisconsin to represent them in extraordinarily difficult moments across the state.
Beyond the courtroom, Tom has been interviewed and appeared in numerous media outlets, ranging from the New York Times, Fox News, Reuters, Washington Post, Court TV, Wisconsin Public Radio, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, among many others. He is a frequent Continuing Legal Education course speaker to teach lawyers and judges in developments and the law, both in Wisconsin and nationally. Finally, Tom has also presented across the country, both online and in person, concerning the law and culture to the public.
In addition to speaking engagements, Tom has also contributed to the national conversation in writing on emerging legal topics and has been published in Conceal Carry Magazine and elsewhere on multiple occasions. He also edited the book and contributed legal input on various other publications, including the "Wisconsin Guide for Armed Citizens" on behalf of the National Association of Certified Firearm Instructors.
Tom graduated with a double major in Medieval European history and Theology from Marquette University and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. Tom is a lifelong Wisconsin resident and graduated high school from University School of Milwaukee.
When not in the office, attorney Grieve enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, reading, and playing ice hockey.

Based on Tom‘s videos of the USCCA, he is a tremendous resource for anyone who may have to defend himself or his family. His recommendations have certainly made me a more informed firearm owner. If I found myself in Wisconsin needing a defense attorney because I had defended myself with a firearm, To...

Very timely and helpful with any questions and guidance along the way! Tom is a great reference for Wisconsin CCW and gun laws! Professional team and the best in Wisconsin!
"I endorse this lawyer. I know Thomas through our membership as USCCA attorneys. He is very knowledgeable about the laws affecting gun ownership and Second Amendment rights. He was incredibly helpful to me in representing a client who was creating a Firearm Trust and I highly valued the information that he provided."
"If there is someone I know who needs a defense attorney, Tom is the first name that comes to my mind. Knowledgeable in the law and aggressive in court."
"Extremely knowledgeable criminal defense attorney – especially on matters involving the 2nd Amendment. I have zero hesitation referring friends and family to Atty. Grieve. Highly recommend!"
"I have no hesitation in recommending Thomas to others in need of a criminal defense attorney. He is efficient, knowledgeable and extremely capable at what he does."
"Having known Tom for several years, his passion for criminal defense shines through in the successes that he has had for his clients. I would not hesitate to reach out to him with questions, or refer OWI/DUI cases and other criminal matters to him. I endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse Tom! I've known him since law school, and he is the consummate professional. He has quickly gained a well-earned reputation as one of the few exceptional criminal law attorneys in the Southeast Wisconsin area. If you have a criminal or DUI issue, he is the first guy I would recommend you talk to."
"I've known Tom Grieve for a number of years now, and he is deserving of the high praise he has received in the legal community. With each case, he brings to bear an "in the trenches" familiarity with the criminal justice system having worked as a prosecutor and on the judicial side. Tom also embodies what it means to be an advocate. This means being a thoughtful, active listener and taking stock of the consequences facing his clients. In a "tough on crime" world with the specter of a criminal record, this is exactly the type of attorney that defendants need. As such, I have and will continue to recommend Tom Grieve."
"Tom is without a doubt one of the very top criminal defense attorneys in SE Wisconsin. If you've been charged with a crime, Tom should absolutely be your first call. You won't regret it."
"I endorse this lawyer. Tom is an excellent attorney who will fight tooth and nail for his clients."
"Tom is my go-to guy with any questions that I have related to criminal defense. He knows the law, he knows the other attorneys, he knows the procedures, and he knows the judges."
"I highly endorse Attorney Thomas Grieve. Tom has an exceptionally strong courtroom presence and his knowledge of the law makes him very effective in representing his clients. Further, his knowledge and passion about the Second Amendment make him truly sought after in the field. I would recommend Tom to anyone looking for a skilled, intelligent and well-spoke defense attorney."
"Excellent Lawyer and Great Person. I highly recommend Attorney Grieve for anyone in need of an experienced criminal defense attorney in eastern Wisconsin."
"If one has a question about the Second Amendment and federal and/or Wisconsin firearms laws, Attorney Grieve is the expert."
"When it comes to understanding Wisconsin's new concealed carry laws, I'd call Tom. He is professional even when adversarial, and thorough."
"I endorse this lawyer. Tom is a very hardworking, honest man. In my experience, Tom gives every client his best effort. Tom is also very intelligent and he has an excellent memory. I would recommend Tom to anyone searching for an attorney."
