Sean Christopher Serpe

Hired this person to represent me for a loan modification. Assured me that he had the knowledge and the experience to win. Never responded to phone calls. Could not answer questions clearly about documents sent to me. Never told me that I had been foreclosed on in another state (North Carolina) -... a state I've never set foot in. Documents missing in County Court files. Took months off for what he claimed were "mental health " issues and handed me off to a colleague who immediately started asking for more money. Am facing imminent foreclosure as the Courts and the Banks are basing my case solely on information and documentation prepared by Mr. Serpe. Have hired a second attorney to try and unravel the mess, Don't ever hire Mr. Serpe for legal representation.

I hired Sean Serpe in June of 2011 to represent me in a personal bankruptcy case, at his request I paid him in full and submitted to him all the requested paperwork. Weeks go by, several emails requesting status were sent and went unanswered. In August of 2011, I went to the office of our initial ...meeting during business hours and the security guard told me that he moved weeks ago without a forwarding address. I had to scramble and hire another attorney. Months layter when I sent an email requesting my money back, I got a cryptic email referring me to another address with a new partner Juan Portillo. I will likely pursue another avenue to get a refund. I would not recommend.

I first retained this attorney in 6/11 for a bankruptcy filing. I have paid him over half of the retainer and he has not followed up with my case or offered to refund my money. I only realized there was a problem when I called his office and got a disconnected phone message. He called me several w...eeks after that date describing his health problem and that he would promptly reassign my case to another attorney to ensure prompt action. To date, I have heard nothing. I have spoken to Lambda Legal who have given me the details for filing a complaint. I have been holding off on the complaint as I had been trusting that Mr. Serpe would follow-up with a plan, but I have not heard from him since. All I want now is a prompt response as to when I can expect a refund of the $1,250 retainer I have already paid--otherwise the complaint will be filed. I intend to find another attorney on my own to resolve my bankruptcy filing.

we hired Sean one year ago to protect us from foreclosure. We have since found out that although he took our money he never submitted anything to the bank including our modification paperwork. We now need to hire a new attorney, after we paid Sean in full (he was very pushy, like a bill collector) we... have now learned that legal documents were sent to him over the summer requiring immediate respones and he did nothing. We did not get copies as he had power of attorney, which has been very difficult to revoke. STAY AWAY WE MAY LOSE OUR HOME DUE TO HIM

I paid him upfront with the expectation that he would be filing my bankruptcy within 3 months, Mr. Serpe did not follow through on appointments or telephone conferences. He said he was turning over his cases to another laywer due to illness, made an appointment for three of us to meet to prepare f...or a meeting of creditors, was to take care of a hearing on dismissal for failure to pay fee (which was sent to an old residence address). Closed his office and moved out without notification or forwarding address. Cannot be reached by phone. I believe his actions are in violation of the New York Lawyer's Code of Professional Responsibility. I will be taking this up with the NY State Bar Association. I believe I have a legitimate grievance and would like to protect others from going through this process. I was widowed recently, on a fixed budget, left with husband's responsibilities and now this.... Every month's delay costs me $1000 in garnishments.
