John Landreth

Mr. Landreth did an amazing job, both before and during the trial. He communicated with me around each court date, and even told me when I didn't need to appear on certain court dates. This saved me from missing work and prevented lost wages. His attention to detail is what ultimately resulted in ...a not guilty verdict. A DWI is the quickest eye opener to just how fast your life can change and suck the fun out of a vacation ski trip.   With a 25 year career on the line and all that I stood to lose this flashed before me in the few hours I endured the arrest process.   Once the shock factor had settled, I felt the st...ring of events that had happened to me could be very questionable so I begin the journey to rectify the problem. Living out of state and finding an attorney was my first challenge.  My third phone call landed me an interview with John Landreth.   He was very detailed and took a great deal of his time to explain my rights, the NC laws and the legal process I could expect.  By the end of our conversation I felt his confidence and knew I was in good hands. I hired the firm Powers Mccarten to represent me for a DWI. I was assigned John. They told me up front at my first meeting what the strategy would be. The officer made some mistakes during my arrest and John expressed that there was a decent chance we could get the charges dropped--but he did not gu...arantee anything. Honestly, I thought they were just trying to get me to hire them and were telling me what I wanted to here. I was absolutely wrong. John never sugar coated anything and told me exactly what to expect at every step of the case. There were numerous delays because of the very poor management of Iredell County courts--so this thing lasted over 2 years. Every time John gave me the straight up of what was going on and basically calmed me down about the factors that are out of our control during legal trials. I had enormous anxiety throughout this whole process and every time I talked to John I came back down and calmed down--he reassured me of our defense strategy and told me that's just how these things go and they take time. Then the day of the trial came, and standing in that court in front of the judge, prosecutor, and arresting officer was honestly intimidating (as much as I hate to admit it). They opened with the prosecutor and officer giving their side, and guess what? they made me feel guilty--I thought "just give me the guilty verdict and let's get this done with". Then it was John's turn. It was like watching a prize fighter. I actually started to enjoy watching him. John was not flashy, he was sharp and spoke with deep conviction, he knew the law back and forth. He made the cop and the prosecutor look like jackasses. John actually looked like he was enjoying himself in the courtroom. He showed that the officer did not follow procedure and that he violated my rights during the arrest. The judge gave me a Not Guilty verdict by the end of the 2.5 hour trial. This guy will fight for you. It's real lonely in that courtroom when you're in front of the cops and a system that seems unfair, but John was right there by my side fighting for me like he was fighting for himself. It sounds crazy, but it was kind of entertaining too--I felt like I was at Vegas and just put a million bucks on a boxer. He is extremely good at the push and pull dance of criminal court, it was seriously cool to see him execute his strategy to perfection. I found out about John through people that recommended that I go to Bill Powers for DWIs. Well now I will be recommending John Landreth by name. I won't be surprised if I see a Landreth and Associates pop up in the near future.

Really great, knowledgeable attorney. I contacted Mr. Landreth for a free consultation when I picked up a DWI charge just to figure out what kind of sentencing to expect. He convinced me that I had a case, and that he could defend me if I chose to plea not guilty. After several months and several... continuances(these things take a while), he did just that and I was found not guilty on a pretty obscure technicality. I gave him 4 stars instead of 5 on "kept me informed" because a couple of the continuances were because Mr. Landreth had other court appearances already scheduled for those days, and I didn't know until I showed up for court. I would have liked to have known about this before hand, but I still would have had to show up at court so it didn't make much of a difference. He did, however, keep me well informed about the details of my case, what he was doing to work on it, and his legal strategy. I could not have expected my experience to go any better. Having an attorney in the court with me really helped to make me feel a lot less anxious during the precedings, and best of all I walked away not guilty when I thought there was absolutely no way that could happen.
