Criminal Defense 70%

I only defend people people facing accusations of crimes or misconduct. My client base includes juveniles, students charged with campus misconduct, those arrested for civil disobedience, individuals facing protection orders, and individuals being investigated for federal offenses, drug offenses, sex offenses, violent offenses, white collar offenses, and domestic violence. I know that when I take these cases, I can be the hardest fighter, both in and out of the courtroom.

70%
Appeals 10%

I only defend people facing accusations of crimes or misconduct. I started my criminal practice by only representing those who had already been convicted. I have a strong history of successful appeals and post-conviction proceeding in state and federal courts. The best results come from working with a lawyer who can strategically, creatively, and forcefully challenge the status quo and prior rulings. If you did not win in the court below, I will passionately fight for you on appeal.

Juvenile Law 10%

I only defend people facing accusations of crimes or misconduct. This includes juveniles.and students charged with campus misconduct. Social science and the law tell us that juveniles are different than adults. My experience as a mother also proves that to be true. Children and youth must have a lawyer who understands those differences, who knows how to work with children and youth, and who demands that the system take them into account. I am proud to say that I do.

25 years

10%
White Collar Crime 10%

I only defend people facing accusations of crimes or misconduct. As a part of that, I have strong experience representing individuals accused of different types of fraud, theft, or embezzlement, at the state and federal level. These cases require an understanding of the law, an attention to detail, and the ability to work with necessary experts. Some of these cases depend on the successful management of large volumes of information. My office has the experience and staff to do that well.

Brains and Heart

I hired Kim and her team in a pre-charge capacity after a former partner reported me for a crime after I refused to cave to her extortion demands after we broke up. In this time of #believeher politics and public sentiment, it was a very scary time for me. Kim was incredibly responsive and caring..., walking me through every aspect of this with directness and also clarity. As needed, she brought in other experts from the field to assist her counsel. As a very well respected and networked attorney, her relationships and reputation were very important. Thanks in no small part to her, the prosecutor's office declined my case. I highly recommend hiring Kim Gordon if you're even in such a scary situation.

Excellent experience

If you want a lawyer that has your best interests in mind at all times, and knows how to help you navigate the system, call Kim and her team. She brought me through one of the darkest and most uncertain times in my life, and what's most important is that she restored my freedom. She's highly experien...ced in both state and federal law practices and she can help you. She saved me, let her do the same for you if you need it. She knows her business. Highly recommend...

Peace of Mind

In 2016, I worked downtown and during protests, the Seattle Police were known to round up anyone who happened to be nearby. Ms. Gordon worked with us to come up with a plan, and have documentation available in case this happened. I cannot stress enough how impressed I was with her thorough and patien...t explanations. I was not a big league hot shot client, but I felt respected and listened to. Would use again in a heartbeat.

"I endorse Kim without reservation. For 17 years I've known Kim to be a superb advocate. The quality of her legal work is of the highest caliber, and her dedication to her clients is well known throughout the legal community. I had the privilege of working with Kim at the Washington Appellate Project and saw her dedication and compassion first hand . She is an excellent listener and always views her clients as human beings. Kim's ability to clearly explain complex legal matters is a valuable resource for both her clients and her peers."

"Kim is an extraordinary advocate. She is tenacious and creative and thorough. Not only that, she genuinely cares for her clients. It's clear that she sees beyond the charges they face, and can find the real story, and spotlight the "human" side of their situation. She has the respect of her peers, her opponents, and the judiciary. She also gives generously of her time to the defense community by working to improve access to justice and to raise the level of practice for criminal defense attorneys across the state. I endorse Kim without hesitation!"

"I strongly endorse this lawyer. A number of years ago I worked with Kim Gordon at The Defender Association representing indigent clients. I have followed her continued good work representing folks in private practice. She was and continues to be an excellent attorney. She represented people charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes. She always wrote strong briefs, had the case investigated properly, and was never afraid to take a case to trial to get the best outcome for her client. I would hire her to represent a friend if needed."

"I have known Kim since we worked together at The Defender Association nearly a decade ago. As a supervisor at TDA she had a knack for identifying creative defenses that others overlooked and winning them when others thought she had no shot (e.g. selective prosecution defense on behalf of alleged ticket scalpers, 1st amendment defense on behalf of WTO rioters). Since leaving TDA she has gone on to win a murder case while employed by one of the city's leading defense firms and expanded her activism beyond the courtroom, leading legislative intiatives to lessen the impact of non-conviction data, championing fundraising on behalf of the Post-Prison Education Project, and leading WACDL as its president. I endorse Kim unreservedly."

"Kim is a tremendous attorney. From the moment she takes on a case, she is thinking aggressively and creatively about the path to victory. Kim is not content to simply litigate the issues as they present themselves. Instead, she dissects a case by looking behind the neat facade that the government often tries to present. Kim and I recently worked on a complicated sentencing issue where this exact approach completely deflated the prosecution's theory. This helped give the client the confidence he needed to push his case forward to trial, which ultimately resulted in an incredible plea offer."

"Kim Gordon is an outstanding, superb lawyer. She has an exceptional legal mind, finely-honed trial, courtroom, and appellate advocacy skills, and forms tight bonds with her clients. Kim and I have co-chaired the WACDL/WDA Legislative Committee and served on the WACDL Board of Governors for several years. She is passionate and committed to criminal defense issues and brings her knowledge of policy concerns to each case, to her clients' benefit. She commands a tremendous amount of respect among all of the actors in the criminal system, and it's well-earned--how many lawyers can say that they obtained a not-guilty verdict on a murder case?!!? She has that rare combination of both amazing appellate and trial skills, which make her a force to be reckoned with. I know I wouldn't want to oppose her! Hire her."
