Best Attorney in Spokane

Matthew is the best at what he does. He is professional and extremely knowledgeable. Most individuals want someone to hold their hand and wipe their tears or pat them on the back, and they want their lawyer to do that for them. Matt is not that attorney. He defiantly has his own humor though and will... always make you feel better. He is strait forward, to the point, and he will not waist your time. If you make emotional decisions as most individuals make in divorce proceedings (I admit I made a few), he will call you on it, not because he is uncaring or, negative, or unprofessional but because by your actions are making a difficult situation impossible. Regarding communication, he is in his office early in the morning, available weekends, available on e-mail. He personally picks up the phone when available immediacy, conversations with him are to the point. I was surprised at times when he called me and it was early on a Sunday. He is extremely committed to you, but he will not put up with non sense. In my particular situation he helped me get my kids back. Mom was alleging the worse, so much that the court imposed supervised visitation simply based on mom’s word. I remember Matt was so disgusted with that decision that he continued to argue even after his time was up, and into chambers. That is how dedicated he was. I was angry and emotional about my situation. Matt helped me see the other side of it, helped me stay grounded, helped me concentrate on the actual issues at hand. I appreciate his strait forward approach with me. It may not work with everyone. Some may feel he is uncaring, he is not. Some may not feel he communicates enough, he communicated what is essential. He is not going to give you a daily play-by-play. He is also extremely fair in price, and is willing to work with you on payment. My ex went though two very good attorneys in town. I remember one of her attorney saying that they wanted something in place to protect me, before he finished their sentence Matt quickly tells him in court the he is responsible for protecting me, I had to smile. I stuck with Matt from beginning to end. With his help I now have my kids 50% of the time. I was almost named primary parent. I could not be happier with his representation. It did take close to a year and ½ for it, but it all turned out at the end. Do I recommend him? 1000% Yes, as I said before if you want a no non sense attorney that will fight for you and protect you even from yourself if he has to, then give him a call.

Knew I was making a bad decision

You can expect matt to do a good job in court. He is professional, well spoken, aggressive, and seems to be truly interested in his clients best interests. Outside of court is pretty much completely different. This guy doesn't appear to understand what customer service means, or just chose to provide... me with bad customer service for some reason, and trying to communicate with him will prove to be very annoying. He responds to emails rarely answering all questions and his aggressive demeanor will likely be experienced in his interactions with you. Just not very personable. If you're expecting advice or direction from a lawyer, this is not your guy. You will do most of the work and figure things out yourself. He on the other hand will file paper work, and appear at hearings. He did make an effort to check in with me in regards to major issues, but this didn't make up for the all the negative. His office is a complete mess and indicates he is very busy. He also failed to inform me about a hearing with the Division of Child Support and missed the hearing himself which resulted in a negative outcome. Supposedly he is one of the busiest family law attorney's in Spokane, which is not a good thing if you're someone looking for good customer service and representation. He's cheap, but you get what you pay for. I represented myself prior to retaining him and fail to see how he did anything that I couldn't have easily done myself with a little effort. He'll save you time, but that's the best thing I can say about his service. Spend your money elsewhere. I just expected more out of an attorney.

As comfortable in Court as he is behind his own office desk!

It's been 12-13 years ago that I found and worked with Matt. He was referred to me by a trusted friend and I actually canned the attorney I had retained for my custody case (after 2 and a half years and just One Month before trial !), due to lack of confidence in their abilities. Even that long ago, ...Matt had all of his depositions transcribed and 'key word cued' to his computer. When we were in court for the actual trial, he operated smoothly and confidently from his laptop, while the opposing lawyer continually fished and fuddled for answers through about a foot thick mass of paperwork. Needless to say, we easily cleaned their clocks, the judge ruled in our favor and my daughter won. She got to have both of her parents for equal time for the rest of her formative years! I imagine there is still a picture of my little girl up on his wall of fame. Matt is one of those professionals that I had such a positive experience with that I have gone out of my way to recommend him to numerous people over the years. He's someone who lives and breathes Family Law.
