I was contacted by a sheriff's deputy with false allegations against me. As someone with a clean record who has never dealt with the court system I was quite frankly terrified. After reaching out to half a dozen attorneys and having more than one refer me to Scott I retained him for a very reasonable price. He immediately contacted the prosecuting attorney assigned to the case and ensured that the police report was closed without any charges being pressed. Scott provided sound legal advice and much needed peace of mind at a chaotic point in my life. Being new to the criminal justice system I had many questions and he answered them quickly in a detailed and knowledgeable manner. He is an excellent lawyer and I recommend him without hesitation.
Sadly, this story may seem very familiar. After a few beers at the baseball game, I forgot to turn on my vehicle lights, got pulled over and my life instantly turned into a living nightmare. I couldn't sleep or eat, worrying about how badly I had messed up. This was the first time I had ever been arrested and had no idea what to expect (I hadn't even received a speeding ticket in over 30 years). After consulting friends and family, we all came to the conclusion that a lawyer was needed to get through the impending storm. After researching the many DUI lawyers available in the Spokane region, something kept pulling me back to Mr. Scott Staab. I made the call (on a Saturday morning, no less), and I am so glad I did. From the very first contact, Mr. Staab put me at ease, was very empathetic/non-judgmental, and immediately helped calm my worst fears. I cannot emphasize how important this initial contact was. Believe me...I know I was wrong to drive after drinking, and the guilt and shame I felt was immeasurable. Mr. Staab helped me put things into perspective, and created a reasonable/achievable plan for my defense. He was with me during the first hearing and was there standing by my side during the last. He even provided me with his personal cell phone number in case I had questions/concerns (24/7 - day or night). Long story short...after doing everything Mr. Staab suggested along with his extensive experience in defending cases like mine, we were able to get my DUI reduced to a charge of negligent driving 1 (and he kept me out of jail). My family and I can't thank Mr. Staab enough for his consultation and support during this very difficult time. Because of Mr. Staab, I can now own what I have done, and begin to make amends without entirely ruining my life. I know it may sound cliche, but you need a lawyer to go through the DUI process. I witnessed the chaos of our court system first-hand, and would not have wanted to deal with this alone and uninformed. As such, I can't recommend Mr. Staab highly enough. Make the call like I did...you will be glad.

Helped me through every thing
Got my situation reduced to almost nothing. Very caring. Was familiar with all of the people in the case including the prosecutor and the judge which personally I feel helped me a lot. Made sure I was okay throughout the whole process and was very formal and professional when it came to my actual hearings.

If you want the best, look no further
My family has hired Scott for numerous legal “events” of over the course of many years, ranging from minor to not-so-minor. In every case, he’s come through for us. His understanding of the law is second to none, and he has been a tireless litigator during some really critical moments in our lives. He is also adept at explaining in plain english what our options are. Bottom line, we trust Scott to be there for us and see it through when life takes a turn for the unexpected.

A damn good lawyer
He helped convert one speeding ticket to a non-points violation and had another ticket for speeding in a school zone out right dismissed. He struck me as a very good and very experienced attorney. I would certainly recommend him to someone else.

He is the best of the best
When you find yourself in a situation you never thought you would be in, it is so very important to find an attorney who is compassionate, understanding and experienced, but can also fight for you and guide you through the pitfalls that face you. Scott has been amazing, and his experience made a bad situation turn out okay. I can't say enough wonderful things about this man. He really is the best of the best.

Great Criminal Defense Lawer.
I got a speeding ticket and a citation for reckless driving, a gross misdemeanor with possible jail time of up to 1 year and fine of up to $5,000, in Washington State. Scott was a real professional and showed confidence during the entire procedure. Thanks to his help and support, the reckless driving charge was dismissed. He saved my time and money as well as mandatory court appearance was all waived.

Great Lawyer, Great Job!!!
Scott and his firm did a fantastic job handling my case. From the moment I stepped into his office he seemed concerned about me, and helped me understand what was going on every step of the way. You wouldn’t go into surgery without a good doctor, and you shouldn’t go to court without a good lawyer. I would recommend Scott to anyone who needs legal representation.

Washington State DUI/Jury Trial
Scott is an excellent choice. Scott took my DUI to a Jury Trial that resulted in a "not guilty" verdict after 15 minutes of jury deliberation. In the many months leading up for trial, I peppered Scott with ideas, questions and court room scenarios. At each junction Scott showed a level of professionalism and follow-through that mattered greatly to me and I believe made the difference in our outcome. I strongly recommend Scott for any case he feels qualified. I felt like Scott invested in my case as if it were is own and I'd recommend him to any/all family and friends.

Scott Staab
Scott is extremely professional, helpful, and knows the law like no other. His counsel has proven invaluable over the last five years. He knows when to be aggressive and when the situation calls for some 'nuance'. I'm just glad he's on my side!

Excellent lawyer!!!
I would highly recommend Mr. Staab. He was diligent in attaining the best possible outcome in my case. He really cares about his clients. I felt as if my case was as important to him as it was to me. He did not settle before the desired plea was accepted by the prosecutor. Plus, he's an all around great guy! You will not be disappointed hiring Scott Staab as your legal counsel. You could not make a more astute, responsible, diligent, driven and caring choice.

DUI attorney
For the amount paid, I felt very alone throughout this process. Initially he was concerned with getting his payment first (which is understandable) but then afterward I felt very confused and alone. As a client I should not have felt like a bother to my lawyer, nor should I have had to remind him multiple times to send things to my probation officer. I get lawyers are busy, but they should make their clients feel taken care of (especially when they are young and alone).

Response from Scott StaabFebruary 13, 2019
This is a very unfair rating. I know that the client's DUI was reduced to a non-DUI offense and that probation officer's have their probationers sign "releases" so they can get their hands on documents they need from evaluating agencies etc. I go out of my way to give my client's the best representation and contact information - which included my phone number, my email, and in this case, even my cell phone number so that my client was always kept up to date. This particular case required substantial additional work communicating with University officials to protect the client's interests and was done at no additional cost. I'm very sorry she doesn't feel like she was represented well. I don't think I've ever had a bad client review and I work very hard to help people out of their legal jams.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.
