Miracle worker -- Amazing outcome with a low-chances of success going in -- all do to Patrick

I found Patrick by an article he had authored online about re-opening cases involving summary judgements and what can be done. I think I had one of the weirdest cases Patrick has ever had - certainly the defense we went with was obscure, unique and creative involving multi-party lawsuits and the t...ime limits for hearing defendants. At any rate, my case involved a frivolous suit filed against which turned into a summary judgement. Further, I found out about the suit way past the period in which I could reasonably defend or overturn the judgement. Believe it or not, the judgement was never entered for collections nor did it ever show on my credit report - this I guess never happens. I only found out about it after a title report was run while trying to sell my house. Needless to say, working in a regulated industry, I had to get this off my record. Moreover, I had a fixed timeframe in which to get this off my record so the sale of my house could proceed! I was very aggressive and wanted to explore any and all avenues. Patrick diligently did so and he ultimately found a couple avenues based upon the state of the lawsuit, the fact that opposing counsel was still the named attorney on the case as well as some of the technical issues involved with the filing of the case - length of time I could respond to a suit with multiple parties. I gave Patrick my budget and he came in at the amount he thought it would cost. There were several complications beyond the age of the case. One being that the person suing me had been serving time for fraud and racketeering and was named in another fraud case against the government of America Samoa and so was quite possibly in a federal pen. Net he was impossible to get hold of. Patrick was also able to find a way to get this case heard without the normal requirement of servicing. Another complication was the opposing counsel was hostile and was filing additional counter-claims against me and Patrick. Very very messy. Long and short, Patrick's defense was amazing. So much so, the judge summarily dismissed the judgement without even needing to hear oral arguments. From what I understand THIS NEVER HAPPENS. WRT Patrick's advice and bedside manner I always felt that Patrick was my "practical" partner in this debacle. He never made me feel dumb nor did he mis-state our chances for success. If anything Patrick was too conservative in setting my expectations as he really didn't want to spend my money in a losing cause. Patrick would say I had big b***s to even pursue this but I knew that with Patrick's help we stood a good chance of winning over a judge. As Patrick would say, we didn't necessarily have the law on our side but we had the facts and Patrick pounded those facts hard. Net, I have a business and I would love to have Patrick as my general counsel... unfortunately he is not generalist but specific around debt, collections and cases like mine. It also makes it hard to forward people to him but I would in a second if a friend had a similar issue. The BIG positive here being that he is an expert in his field.

"I endorse this lawyer's work. I first met Patrick Burpee in 1999 when we were both working for a large downtown law firm. In 2003, Patrick saw the light and went out on his own to practice. Eventually, I too saw the light and started my own practice in 2011. Since then, Patrick and I have joined forces to successfully defend our clients’ business interests. Patrick has a keen attention to detail which accelerates his ability to find the best leverage for settlement negotiations. When he can’t resolve a matter through negotiations, his trial skills serve him well. I highly recommend Patrick Burpee’s legal services."

"As a fellow attorney and friend, I often call Patrick (or connect with him for a run around Discovery Park), to discuss various legal issues that I encounter in my practice. He is a great attorney to discuss legal arguments and ideas, as he has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in his law practice. It is good to have a colleague like Patrick that likes to think “outside the box.” I can say, without reservation, that Patrick is well respected by his peers and the courts. You will be in good hands if Patrick is your attorney"

"I have known Mr. Burpee as a colleague and friend for approximately 11 years. I referred a client, who owned a fish tender, to Mr. Burpee for post judgment collection representation. The judgment debtor, a fish cannery with facilities in Alaska, Washington, and California, had failed to pay my client approximately $155,000 for his work as a tender vessel owner. the cannery had a long-standing reputation for failing to meet its financial obligations and recovery of such a large sum seemed unlikely. However, Mr. Burpee zealously pursued the cannery for over a year, utilizing various post judgment collection techniques. Ultimately, the cannery's principal realized that they would be unable to avoid payment and satisfied the debt in full with interest! Where others failed, Mr. Burpee succeeded. I would recommend other clients to Mr. Burpee in the future without hesitation."

"I endorse this lawyer's work. Patrick Burpee is a conscientious, trustworthy and hard-working lawyer. Mr. Burpee has the proven ability to express complex legal concepts in terms that are easily understandable to his clients, and to always place his clients' needs above his own. I have known Mr. Burpee for over ten years, have worked together with Patrick on several legal matters, and have referred many clients to Patrick in areas that are outside of my expertise. Patrick is a creative thinker, and always works to find a viable practical solution for his clients’ legal issues. When his legal skills are required to reach an equitable result, Patrick is diligent and efficient in utilizing his time on behalf of his clients. I highly recommend Mr. Burpee to anyone seeking legal assistance in his areas of practice.”"

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have known Mr. Burpee as a professional colleague and friend for approximately 6 years. I referred a long-time client to Mr. Burpee for post judgment collection assistance. The judgment debtor, a downtown Seattle bar owner, appeared judgment proof with dozens of judgments against him personally as well as his business. Other attorneys had been unsuccessful in their collection efforts. Mr. Burpee recommended a “Tip Tap” - a little-known and rarely-pursued collection technique. I was able to accompany Mr. Burpee, along with the King County Sheriff’s Department, the Washington Liquor Control Board, a locksmith, and moving company to the bar at approximately midnight on a busy Friday evening. The bar owner quickly realized the gravity of the situation, and immediately arranged for payment arrangements. Mr. Burpee’s insight was invaluable. He is a skilled attorney with an attention to detail. I highly recommend Mr. Burpee."
