Practice areas
  1. Mediation
I serve as a neutral mediator for a variety of matters including consumer, commercial, business, real estate, divorce, construction, eviction, probate, and fee disputes. Please contact me to find out more or to schedule a mediation.

  2. Bankruptcy and debt
I've represented debtors, creditors, trustees, and receivers in individual and business bankruptcy and receivership cases, restructuring, reorganization, liquidation, collection, debt workouts, and foreclosure defense.

  3. Probate
I represent personal representatives, beneficiaries, trustees, and creditors in administration of probate estates. I also provide estate planning services including preparation of wills and other estate-planning documents.

  4. Real estate
I've represented residential and commercial landlords and tenants, home buyers and sellers, condo boards, and developers, builders, contractors, and lenders in a variety of real estate transactions and litigation. I also help clear title issues.

  5. Arbitration
I am available to serve as a pre-litigation voluntary arbitrator of attorney's fee disputes.

A friend called me "A Northwest Kind of Lawyer," and I like that. Born and raised in Seattle, I spent my youth and adulthood exploring beaches, islands, rivers, and mountains, enjoying hiking, climbing, fishing, and kayaking. Thinking I would become a teacher, I surprised myself by choosing a career in law. I have more than 30 years of law firm experience, including more than a decade a litigation, bankruptcy and family law paralegal prior to becoming an attorney in 2007. Over the past 15-plus years, I have focused my law practice on consulting with and representing individuals and business clients in a variety of matters including bankruptcy, receivership, business restructuring, foreclosure, business and real estate, estate planning and probate, family law/divorce, and related litigation and transactions. I have been recognized as a "Rising Star" by SuperLawyers in 2010 and 2016-2017 and a "Super Lawyer" in 2020-2023.

More recently, I have expanded my practice to include private mediation and arbitration for several types of disputes including civil, commercial, business, real estate, eviction, condominium, divorce/custody, probate/estate, partnership and law-firm dissolution, and attorney's fee disputes. In addition to my Seattle law and mediation practice, I am a family mediator with Family Mediation Hawai'i in Honolulu, and a volunteer mediator for the Mediation Center for the Pacific, where I completed advanced mediation training in 2021 and divorce mediation training in 2023. I am also a panel member for the Hawai'i Bankruptcy Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.

I previously served as Chair of the WSBA Law Clerk Board and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, and continue to volunteer on the Camp Long Advisory Council, which supports outdoor education, stewardship, and leadership opportunities for underserved youth in the Seattle area. I am a member of the Washington Mediation Association and the Conflict Resolution Alliance of Hawai'i.

I currently accept new cases by referral only and represent a limited number of clients in debt workout, bankruptcy, receivership, probate, and business restructuring matters. I am available for private mediation in Seattle through my law firm, Westwood Pacific Law PLLC, and for family mediation in Hawai'i through Family Mediation Hawai'i.

Whether as a lawyer or mediator, I enjoy helping individuals and business owners find common sense, cost-effective solutions for avoiding and recovering from financial distress.

Thorough, responsive, knowledgeable
Our family needed help for debts we were unsure about. Thanks to Jeffrey, we were able to understand everything easily, and thoroughly. I cannot express my gratitude enough for all of Jeffrey’s work. He was extraordinarily thorough, responsive, and knowledgeable about everything we threw at him. We had consulted with several attorneys regarding out debt, and he was the only one who was exceptional. He truly gave us the peace of mind of understanding every avenue we could take to settle our debts. Thank you again.

Litigation representaion
He represented me and a fellow board member on a case we were drug into by the people suing as leverage to get the CEO to settle. They felt if his board was accused he would close quicker which was not the case and the reason us board members ended up hiring lawyers. He helped us understand what was going on and always kept us informed. He also had very good staff around him that answered any questions we had very quickly.

Thank you for a job well done.
Jeff not only handled my issue in a professional matter, he made me feel comfortable the entire duration of my case. I appreciated his thoughtful responses and the time he would take to make sure things were handled appropriately.
