About John

Learn John’s areas of practice.

I started working in criminal law by working as an investigator at The Defender Assoication in Seattle during college.  I later worked at the California innocence Project  in law school and helped to free those who were wrongfully convicted from prison.  After that, I interned for two years at the San Diego County Public Defender's Office at the trial level.  When I moved back home to Washington, I worked on a number of felony appeals.

My practice is now focused primarily on civil matters that may lead to litigation and ultimately a jury trial.  The time I spent as a criminal defense attorney gave me inavluable experience that is of great advantage in negotiating settlements and handling jury trials.  The civil matters that I focus on include, personal injury and auto accidents, breach of contract, landlord/tenant disputes, denial of insurance claims and wrongful termination of employment.

John is excellent
John handles your case with integrity and aggressiveness. He is a rare find in an attorney. He works hard for you. He is very sharp and prepared; his attentiveness in utilizing various strategies as the hearing progressed is commendable and admirable. He is one you can take your most difficult and rare cases to. If he charged more, he would be worth every penny. He is a talented attorney with a future I don't doubt will make him one of the few top attorneys in the US. He knows the law. In a difficult case as mine was, a protection order against me, he was thorough in reviewing the case history in the short amount of time he had to prepare. He is very resourceful. Results of the hearing? Yes, he's a winner.

He took my money and ran!
I paid this man to represent me for a probation hearing. The weekend before my court date he called to say he was not going to be able to appear in court. As I had already paid him I asked for my money back. He refused to pay me back my money that day and every day since. I have called this man consistently and have tried in every way to get my money back. That was 6 months ago. I have since turned him into the state law board.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2018.

Reprimand issued in WA, 2018
updated on 01/03/2019

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
