Casey Matthew Arbenz

A few months ago, I found myself doing some hung-over Googling on a Saturday after a series of poor decisions. I took a chance and called the firm that Casey is part of, Puget Law Group. No attorney will guarantee an outcome, but like most things in life, you get what you pay for with legal representation. Casey Arbenz represented me in Thurston County Court and 100% knew what he was doing. I had to trust the process (and continuances galore), but he secured a great outcome with a significantly reduced charge. After seeing other defendants in court get ground up by the justice system, I know that I made the right choice with hiring Casey. Retaining his services was probably the best decision I made in all of March. Best of all, Casey is a great person. I can't say that about all of the attorneys I have worked with (in a professional capacity, this is my first time as a defendant). He's compassionate, communicative, and takes the time to explain. Mr. Arbenz took the necessary time to fully explain the charges, potential outcomes and consequences. I was accused of assault by one of my adult daughters. As soon as I found out, I prayed that God would direct me to the attorney of his choosing for my case. After contacting several and meeting with Casey, I felt strongly he was the right person. I, and my case, were unlike any that Casey had worked with before. It involved family complexities resulting from a difficult divorce, and my desire to leave the door of reconciliation open to my adult children and their mother. I was willing to have all testimony and evidence brought out into the light, and accept the decision of a jury, regardless the outcome. Casey did a great job of adjusting. He explained well what was at risk (up to 365 days in jail), and what it would mean if I were to accept any continuance (the risk that the case would be tried based solely on the facts provided by the alleged victim). Though he encouraged me to consider the offers presented, I believed it more important to my family for me to risk being tried and found guilty, than to have them suspect that I was guilty and worked a deal. Being firmly convinced that the action for which I was accused was in truth a measured response to behavior which risked the safety of others, we proceeded toward trial. After the first trial ended in a hung jury (4 of 6 to acquit), Casey again made adjustments as we prepared for a stronger approach to the next trial. During the pretrial hearing the prosecutor offered one more deal, which was more of a "wrist-slap". Still feeling it was in my families best interest to continue to trial, I refused. Within a couple weeks, Casey received a call from the State prosecutor that they decided to drop the charges. Casey was the right attorney for my trial, was understanding and effective.
