Todd Maybrown

On Thursday December 11, 2008, I received a criminal complaint against me. According to the court papers, the charge was a criminal offense; the alleged violation was an assault. I was shocked and strongly believed that there must be an error due to the fact I did not recall “knowingly” committ...ing an offense against any being, let alone a human being. Initially, I did not know what to do. The second day I called a friend who is a attorney, his practice focuses on civil litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on general commercial litigation, i.e. he was not a criminal defense attorney. After reading the court complaint letter, my friend’s reaction was similar to mine. I was falsely accused of very serious charges by an ex-girlfriend. The local prosecutor believed her story and pursued those charges all the way to the bitter end of a jury trial. It was the worst time of my life. I can't even express what that process did to me.
