A steady, determined lawyer
Cynthia Buhr was a lighthouse in the storm of my divorce. She gave strong advice but always left it to me to make the decisions. She offered clear explanations and was always kind when I asked her to explain the process repeatedly. She was determined to help me get a settlement that was fair and equitable. I could not have gone through the divorce process without her sensible and prudent advice. She has a huge amount of family law experience, and she was able to deal with my ex and his lawyers in a calm and judicious manner.

Fantastic. Simply fantastic.
Cynthia worked well on my case. She provided clear direction for my actions, as well as providing cost effective counsel. She was professional while helping clear up emotional responses to things that needed a fact based response. My case was complicated, and she helped me to understand what was normal and abnormal, while providing excellent strategic thinking.

Exceptional representation
A friend referred me to Cynthia for my dissolution case and I have no regrets. Without a doubt, I was a challenging client. Cynthia was flexible, courteous, considerate, prompt, professional and precise in her presentation. Cynthia was able to help me put aside the emotion of my case and get my wife and I to a point where we were able to file uncontested dissolution. Cynthia's rates are in line with an exceptional attorney. I appreciate Cynthia's work so much that I am doing my Estate Planning with her. I highly recommend Cynthia as a legal representative.

Estate Planning and Wills
My husband and I needed to do estate planning, create a will and set up a trust and guardianship for our son. Cynthia Buhr made this a very easy process. Her process for gathering our information was easy and thorough. She provided solid legal advice on how to set up specifics of our trust. She and her staff were easy to work with and very responsive to our questions.

Outstanding service and very reasonable rates
My same-sex spouse and I hired Cynthia to secure parentage of our daughter by means of a second-parent adoption. She began by providing a no cost initial consultation to inform us of our options and then offered to represent us at a very reasonable flat rate. The entire process went extremely smoothly and she constantly kept us up-to-date on actions she was taking and steps that we had to take. The entire process from start to finish took about six weeks, with our amended birth certificates arriving shortly thereafter. Cynthia knows her areas of law very well and she keeps costs contained for her clients. I would recommend her highly and would use her again without a second thought.

Great to work with
This is the second divorce that Cynthia has handled for me over the years. While you never expect to be in that situation, it is so nice to have someone like Cynthia to represent you and help you through the process. The second time around, I contacted her again without hesitation. She is very personable, knowledgeable, organized, prompt with her responses and documentation, and she takes the time to thoroughly walk through any questions or issues. I highly recommend her.

Excellent attorney - highly recommended
Cynthia has been a superb attorney to work with. She handled our son's adoption, our family estate planning, and is now handling our daughter's adoption. We have appreciated her clear communication, prompt responsiveness, reliability, and affordability. Above all, she is extremely knowledgeable about the unique issues facing LGBT families, as the legal landscape for these issues is quickly changing. Cynthia is respectful of the time of busy families, and has made these processes as easy and convenient as possible. I enthusiastically recommend her services.

Would not recommend
• Unorganized o We ended up using the opposing attorney’s documentation, which put me at a huge disadvantage, because they were more prepared. o I had to answer the same question multiple times. It’s definitely good to get confirmation, especially regarding legal documentation; however, I was asked for information that I had previously answered in the multiple page questionnaire which I spent hours completing. It led me to believe that this questionnaire wasn’t used at all. o Along these lines, instead of using the information I provided to put together a proposal that would be customized to my needs, she used a template from prior cases which didn’t address my concerns. • Difficult to talk to o She is really hard to talk to. Most of the time I felt as though I was inconveniencing her and that she really didn’t care about my situation. Once I realized this I would have loved to switch attorney’s but unfortunately at that point realized it was too late to do so. She was also argumentative with me at times when I raised concerns about some of the decisions. o In addition, throughout the case it felt as though she just wanted to close the case as quickly as possible and hence probably made recommendations that weren’t in my best interest. • Unresponsive o There were multiple occasions where I had to wait weeks for Cynthia to deliver on her commitments. I had to send her multiple reminders and felt as though I was prioritized to the bottom. Consequently, everything ended up being rushed towards the end and I was forced to make decisions I was not happy with. • Inexperienced o We ended up going with all of the other attorney’s recommendations. Looking back I don’t think this was a good idea and had Cynthia been experienced with their recommendations would have advised against them. She in fact told me after the fact that she didn’t have experience with some of their suggestions.

Response from Cynthia Buhr October 23, 2015
While I strive to please all clients, I recognize that may not always be possible, and I am disappointed to read here about this anonymous client's experience. I make it a priority to advocate zealously for all clients, and I work very hard to be clear and well prepared in all matters, as well as communicating promptly with clients. I am open and willing to address concerns voiced during representation. I welcome this client to contact me further so I can learn more as I remain dedicated to improving my representation and client experience.
