Patrick Joon Kang

My experience with Patrick was fantastic, his communication with me was far superior to any of the lawyers I spoke with in Seattle. When I first met Patrick, I was stressed out from issues with my current employer and was not sure about what my options were. I had never talked with a lawyer before and didn’t know what to expect. Patrick after talking with Patrick, I understood my situation much better and had a plan and underst...ood the pros and cons of various options. I am glad I chose to work with Patrick. He told me the facts without over or under promising the possible outcomes of my case. He took the time necessary to learn all the facts and was able to make sense out of a complicated chain of events. I felt Patrick did a thorough job. I felt that Patrick was knowledgeable about employment law. He explained what his plan was and also the reasons behind his plan. He fought off my previous employer’s suit against me (and won). Patrick always returned my calls and email and kept me informed of any changes in my case. Patrick put up with my indecisiveness and second guessing myself. (I’m sure I drove him a bit crazy now and then). Patrick was very personable, very honest, put up with my general indecisiveness and worked hard for me.. The mediator was like a pit bull. Patrick stood up to her and did well at the mediation. In the end, the settlement was acceptable to me. I wanted to stand up to my previous employer for his actions and try and get back some of the money I felt was owed to me. I feel that Patrick did achieve my goals. I would recommend Patrick to others. He is hard working, personable, friendly and has patience for his clients who are in a stressful point in their life. He knows the law and is ready to help.

There is so much more that I would like to say about Patrick Kang because he was such an inspiration to me and my family, not only as a lawyer, but also as an individual. But because of the limited space available, I am only going talk about Patrick as a lawyer. In December 2005 a local taxi cab... collided with my vehicle on I-5. My children and I were injured and we hired a lawyer (someone other than Patrick) to try to get my medical bills paid. The taxi-company was working with high profile lawyers and took the case to arbitration. We lost at the arbitration. I was devastated and thought, "how could this happen?" In my opinion “injustice” was done. After losing at the arbitration, my then attorney stopped representing us and I had to find a new lawyer to appeal. It was very difficult to find another lawyer. I called numerous attorneys, who agreed that an injustice was to done on my case, but they wouldn't take on my case due to the fact that there was almost no chance of winning at trial in light of the arbitration decision. These attorneys were concerned that their law firms would lose money if they represented me. After calling many lawyers in the phone book, I called Patrick’s office. Patrick met with me even though he already knew that the case was lost at the arbitration level. As a matter of fact, he was the only lawyer from the numerous people I contacted who was willing to hear me out. He agreed to take on my case, knowing that our chances were slim, because he wanted to see that justice was served. Patrick Kang spent hours and hours working on my case. Even though my car accident case was small case to his law firm, he gave 110% working on my case. I still remember his words to me, "No matter how small or large a case is, I always try to do my best and give it my all on each case I take on." The insurance company refused to settle for my medical expenses so we were forced to go to trial. Before trial, Patrick met with me several times to help me prepare for the trial. I was very nervous because I had never been to trial and this was a new experience for me. Patrick met with me several times outside of his normal business hours since I hardly had any time during the normal business hours. Patrick taught me techniques to overcome my fears, so that I could be relaxed in court when testifying. Throughout the many months, until the trial, Patrick kept me informed at all times. I did not just receive formal letters, he personally contacted me and met with me to explain what was going on and the work he had done on the case. Fortunately for us, we won at trial. The verdict was significantly more than what we offered the insurance company to settle before trial. During trial, Patrick was very well prepared and it was obvious that he knew what he was doing. The lawyer representing the cab company was a lot older than Patrick, but Patrick was as good or better than the high profile defense lawyer. Patrick was quick on his feet asking questions to the witness and answering the judge’s questions. Thanks to Patrick’s foundational belief in the legal system and justice and fighting for what he believed was right, we prevailed. Patrick was very professional, kindhearted, easy-going, ambitious and a driven person. It was admirable to see that he did not lose his heart on the way. He was easily approachable and to him a case like mine was not just about money. He wants justice to be done. For anyone thinking of hiring an attorney, I highly recommend Patrick Kang for all the above mentioned qualities that it takes to win a case.

When i first came to Patrick, he probably thought I was a little nuts. I was so distraught from what was happening to me. My former employer did not honor my maternity leave. I was trying to keep what job I had left and be a new mom. He stood by me for 2 years. He always listened and didn't judge me....
