Mark helped me on a contested probate. I had already engaged one lawyer in Portland, whose employment I had to terminate due to dishonesty, and fought through an ancillary probate in Las Vegas where I realized that clients/beneficiaries can easily become victims to their attorneys. It was a relief to find Mark, who is straightforward, clear, knowledgeable and honest. I felt at all times that he had my best interest in mind. He helped me to understand my options, make good choices, and was very easy to work with.
Once my husband and I started a family, we realized that we needed to get serious about estate planning. We worked with Mark to put together a Will, an Advance Medical Directive/Healthcare POA, and a General Durable POA. Mark did a great job of explaining why each document type was necessary and walking us through the issues we should consider, including ensuring that our insurance policies matched the directives in our Will.
After we completed our core estate planning objectives, Mark talked us through some additional estate planning strategies we may want to consider moving forward to better protect our assets and make estate management easier (i.e. creation of a family trust); we plan on working with Mark again in the future in this regard.

I am a native Oregonian, originally from Depoe Bay, Oregon. I grew up on the coast, working on fishing boats and enjoying the outdoors. I attended Oregon State University before moving to Reno, NV for 4 years. After a few years in Reno, I realized that there is no place like Oregon and I moved back. I attended Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, and I have lived in Portland ever since. I am a partner in a small, 4 attorney law firm in Garden Home. I am still an avid outdoorsman, enjoying scuba diving on the coast, fishing, hiking and boating. My wife and I live in the Beaverton area with our 2 year old son. My current passion is building my law firm and enjoying my family and friends.

GREAT Estate Attorney
Mark handled a family member's estate for us and did a great job. We had no idea what needed to be done and Mark handled all of the paperwork and legal filings with great efficiency. We wouldn't hesitate to use his services again.

Mark D. Ropp
We used Mark's services for updating our will and end of life medical care requests. We also had him act as our attorney on a possible land sale to a government entity. He was prompt, friendly, organized. He came out to the land site to help interact with county officials.

Hard-Working, Committed Representation Who was a Great Help with Complicated Property Tax Issue
Mark was retained to help our non-profit, tax-exempt organization manage a property tax dispute with a local government agency in which our organization was incorrectly charged a tax bill of over $50,000. Unfortunately, the issue had been mismanaged by previous administrators in our organization, so Mark was faced with a difficult situation that was several years old and required significant research. Mark found out that because of our organization's delay in dealing with the tax bill, the statute of limitations/appeals period had lapsed; however, he continued his exhaustive research, looking for any precedent that might give us a way to appeal the bill outside of the statutory appeals period. Unfortunately he was not able to find any case law to support a favorable legal outcome, but he truly believed that the tax bill was wrongly applied, and felt strongly enough about the merits of our argument that he offered to negotiate directly with the government agency on our behalf to try to attain some relief from the bill.
After a sometimes contentious negotiation that lasted several weeks, Mark was able to secure a reduction in the tax bill of over 50%! This relief was a true godsend for our small organization.
Mark is an extremely bright, hard-working, and motivated attorney who shows great commitment to his clients. We cannot give him any higher recommendation, and any time we have a legal issue to deal with in the future Mark will be the first person we call.

Revocable Trust
I am MOST impressed with this lawyer, as out of THREE responses, he's the only one who said my Trust would hold up, as long as there aren't any mitigating instances.
Every other one has tried to convince me to "consult" with an attorney - obviously them to drum up work??
There will be no contest to the Family Trust, as my husband's residence is still in CA.
For my personal trust, he is the Co-Trustee.
I know this from being a Paralegal in CA.
I will eventually have a new one done, just to clean up some stuff - I've had changes in my Executors, as a couple have died. So, I WILL clean it up - and will go to this gentlemen because he isn't full of it.
