Tony Kullen, a native of Larchmont, New York, and formerly of Sunnyside, Queens, began his legal career working on securities and corporate governance matters in New York City. Mr. Kullen was admitted to the New York bar after graduating from St. John’s University School of Law in June 2006. While in law school, Mr. Kullen participated in the Moot Court Honor Society – Junior Bar, and was appointed by the Queens County Family Court to serve as guardian ad litem representing child-clients in abuse and neglect proceedings under the Child Advocacy Clinic. Mr. Kullen moved back to Portland, Oregon, in August 2009, and has been engaged in litigation and transactional work related to secured and unsecured debt, real estate, corporate finance, and bankruptcy ever since.
Mr. Kullen joined Wright, Finlay & Zak as Managing Attorney for its Oregon office in January 2018, after serving in that capacity with another law firm in 2015, and as Counsel with the Business Transactions Group of another law firm from 2015 through 2017. Since joining Wright, Finlay & Zak, Mr. Kullen has focused primarily on creditors’ rights issues, real estate litigation, including lender and servicer liability defense, wrongful foreclosure defense, fair debt collection practices defense, and title disputes; and general business transactions. Mr. Kullen regularly practices in state and federal courts throughout Oregon and Washington. Mr. Kullen is an active member of the Oregon State Bar Debtor-Creditor Section’s Public Education and Legislative Committees, and the Credit Union National Association; is a volunteer coach for the We the People Constitutional Law debate program for a local high school; and serves as Chair of the Supervisory Committee of Rivermark Community Credit Union. Mr. Kullen is also committed to providing pro bono legal services through the Legal Aid Services of Oregon and through the Lewis and Clark Small Business Law Clinic.
In his free time, Mr. Kullen enjoys attending concerts whenever possible; plays bass guitar with an award-winning “barrister band;” and goes sailing on his humble sailboat, the S/S Ship of Fools.
