also known as Gilbert B. Vega, Gil Vega
Gilbert B. Vega is a Sacramento-based felony trial attorney who represents clients in both State and Federal criminal prosecution. He is a graduate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he excelled in its Moot Court Appellate Advocacy program. He graduated from McGeorge in December 2009 and immediately took and passed the February California State Bar Examination on his first attempt. He was admitted to practice in front of the California Supreme Court on June 1st, 2010. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.
As a member of the McGeorge’s Moot Court Honor Board, Mr. Vega argued in two national moot court competitions involving criminal procedure and civil rights litigation. As a result of his performance, Gilbert was invited to serve as an Attorney-Instructor to help coach the school’s subsequent moot court teams consisting of third year law students after he graduated.
Mr. Vega earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in history in 2002. His main focus of study while at UC Davis was on classical history with an emphasis on Latin and Ancient Greek poetry and grammar. Following his graduation, Mr. Vega was employed by Zurich North America, an international insurance firm located in the Sacramento region. While at Zurich, he spent two and a half years analyzing, evaluating and settling personal injury claims which arose from automobile accidents, dog bites, slip and falls and other forms of loss. In this capacity, Mr. Vega learned what factors are most critical in maximizing recovery for plaintiffs.
While in law school, Mr. Vega served as a Senior Student Intern in the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. He argued and drafted many evidentiary suppression motions as well as arraigned hundreds of misdemeanor defendants. Mr. Vega also drafted several trial motions for felony prosecutions and drafted answers to defendant’s appeals from conviction. Following his admission to the Bar, Mr. Vega now represents defendants who find themselves charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses.
