Biography

Mr. Frangos regularly represents clients whose lives have been forever changed because they have suffered serious, life changing, and catastrophic injuries as a result of another person's or entities' negligence in cases involving automobile collisions, industrial incidents from failures to follow proper safety guidelines and procedures, and premises liability cases. Mr. Frangos also practices in the area of employment law with cases involving wrongful termination, wage and hour, whistleblower retaliation, as well as professional malpractice, where he holds professionals responsible for their failure to meet the applicable standard of care. Mr. Frangos has successfully tried cases to verdict, obtained multiple six to seven figure settlements, judgments, and arbitration awards, and has argued before the First District Court of Appeal.

Mr. Frangos' work ethic and reputation have also been recognized by his peers in the legal community. In 2025, he was awarded the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers’ George Corey Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for his years of dedication to the practice of law and the local and legal community. He also previously served as the President of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers' Association (2016-2017 Term) and remains an active member of their Board of Directors, as well as being a Director for the San Mateo County Bar Association, a member of the At Large Board of Governors for the Consumer Attorneys of California, served as co-founder/Treasurer for the Veteran Lawyers of San Mateo County, and is a past member of the Hellenic Law Society. Mr. Frangos is frequently asked to speak at seminars for his colleagues on relevant legal issues. In addition, since 2013, Ilya was nominated by his colleagues as a Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Star, an honor reserved for only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state, and from 2022 to the present, has been nominated as a Super Lawyer. From 2010-2015, Mr. Frangos also served as a JAG Captain in the California State Military Reserve. His duties involved serving as legal counsel to National Guard soldiers regarding domestic legal matters prior to and following their deployment, and other matters related to military law.

In addition to representing his clients, Mr. Frangos is also involved in his local community and dedicates his time to philanthropic endeavors. He and his firm regularly donate their time to local charities such as the Samaritan House, a local non-profit dedicated to providing services and resources to low-income and homeless residents in need, Ayudando Latinos a Sonar (“ALAS”) a non-profit that supports the Half Moon Bay Latino coastal community, the San Mateo County Bar Association by serving as part of their Lawyer Referral Program, where county residents can pay a nominal fee to receive advice and counsel from an attorney, and on pro bono clients in need who have nowhere else to turn. His belief is that by working in the community, his firm has a responsibility to help those in need who cannot help themselves.

Lastly, he has served as a mentor for his alma mater Woodside High School in their Business Academy Mentoring program mentoring high school students, and has lectured and taught at local colleges in the areas of Business Law, Torts, and Legal Writing and Research.

Mr. Frangos received his Juris Doctorate Degree from UC Law San Francisco (formally UC Hastings College of the Law), with an emphasis in Criminal Law and received his Bachelor's Degree from UC Berkeley in Rhetoric. Prior to joining the Law Office of Galine, Frye, Fitting & Frangos as an attorney, Mr. Frangos worked with the District Attorneys' office in San Mateo and San Francisco appearing frequently in court to prosecute criminals, and practiced general civil litigation in the areas of real estate, contract disputes, and personal injury.

A Lawyer Who Actually Cares

I don’t write many reviews, but my experience with Ilya Frangos deserves one. After being rear-ended by a catering truck at a red light, I spoke with two other lawyers first—and both felt transactional, focused only on what my case was “worth.” Ilya was different from the very first call. He was huma...ne, genuine, and actually listened. He fought for me with professionalism and heart, and I’m still doing physio almost 10 years later. When you’re injured, you don’t know how your condition will unfold. In a legal world that can feel cold and predatory, he stands out as a truly good human being. Professional, knowledgable and dedicated

I retained Ilya Frangos of Galine, Frye & Fitting on a business litigation matter involving a frivolous lawsuit filed in federal court. Ilya guided me through the case and helped make sure that I understood the process. Professional & dedicated representation

Ilya Frangos was recommended to me by a friend. I was in a serious motorcycle accident where the other party ran a stop sign and hit me. I had major injuries and the other insurance company involved offered me $4200 as a settlement. That would not have covered even a portion of my medical bills. Ilya... Frangos was committed to getting me a fair settlement. I was off work for 5 months, and Ilya helped me get a settlement that covered all of my lost wages, and paid off all the medical bills. Without the hard work and dedication of Ilya, I would be in serious financial trouble for an accident that was not my fault.

Ilya Frangos is the best lawyer I have dealt with ever

Ilya represented me on a difficult motor vehicle accident that involved issues regarding who was at fault and complicated injuries that I had from the accident. He was persistent, detail oriented, and really took the time to explain the process and make sure that I understood every step of my case. H...e was knowledgeable about my injuries and all my medical treatment and how it affected both my health and my case. I would highly recommend Ilya to anyone looking for an attorney.
