Chance Xcaliber Oberstein

Chance is a consummate professional with a flexibility of thought, and a true passion for his profession. He saved my bacon with a biased-judge, and I was able to walk out that day. I would hire Chance again, and hope to do so so I can get my life back. He is easily available over email, phone and... text. He is patient and most importantly, does not speak any BS. I applaud his honesty and hard work.

I am so grateful and thankful to have hired Chance and to have successfully obtained a Certificate of Rehabilitation in San Diego. Genuinely Grateful! When I met Chance some years back. I was on parole looking at 20 years (yikes). I set up a consultation with Mr. Oberstein. Where he was able to break down the law to me. I thought for sure I was NEVER getting off. It felt like I was being set up for failure. Any number of thin...gs could happen in 20 years. Especially if a parole agent doesn’t like you. Arm with the information Mr.Oberstein gave me. I was able to meet with my parole agent and their supervisor. To discuss new developments Mr. Oberstein was able to provide me with. Needless to say they were shocked that I knew such information. Things started turning around 4 months later for me. First 20 years turned to 10 years. Then 10 years turned to 3 years. Next thing I knew I was off parole. All it took was one encounter at an ACSOL meeting with Mr.Oberstein and my life changed for the better. No more ankle monitors. No more parole. I’m thankful for the way Chance navigated me through the last two years of my 3 year parole. If Not for Chance’s help. I’d still be on parole today.

I lucked out and found Chance through the ACSOL website. I was looking for an expungement and reduction to misdemeanor after completing my probation. Every lawyer I talked to said that because the laws had changed since my conviction, I would have to see an appellate lawyer to get my rights restore...d to be eligible for what I wanted to do and wouldn't take my case until that had been accomplished. When I contacted ACSOL to see about this change in law, I was advised to contact Chance and explain my case to him. BEST DECISION EVER! It was immediately obvious that Chance knew the law pertaining to my conviction better than any of the lawyers from my local area. He immediately explained how he could approach my request and it made perfect sense to me. In court, the judge's first inclination was to deny my request for expungement because my conviction wasn't eligible for one. He calmly and eloquently argued the merits of my case citing case law favoring my position and I walked out of court that day with an expunged record! Our next move is to go back into court for a reduction of my felony wobbler to a misdemeanor which would make me eligible for tier 1 status when the new registry takes effect in 2021. Fingers crossed. I wish that I had know about Chance when I was first arrested, the outcome might have been different.
