Biography
I became a personal injury attorney because of a moment that changed everything.
In 2003, I lost my father, who was himself a respected attorney. At the same time, I was watching how insurance companies treated injured people who did not have legal representation, and I was done with it. I had been on the defense side long enough to understand exactly how that system worked. I knew what adjusters were trained to do. I knew what unrepresented victims did not know. And I decided I was not going to be part of that anymore.
I opened my practice in my late father's office. That was not symbolic. That was a promise.
I have been representing injured Californians ever since, for more than 25 years now. In 2008, I partnered with my longtime friend and fraternity brother Saar Swartzon to build Cohn & Swartzon LLP, a firm we designed from day one around one non-negotiable standard: every client speaks directly with an attorney. Not a case manager. Not a paralegal. An attorney who knows their case, knows their name, and is personally accountable for the outcome.
I have been recognized as a Super Lawyers honoree every year since 2014, hold an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible designation for legal ability and ethical standards, and carry a 10.0 Superb rating on AVVO. I am a lifetime member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a distinction reserved for attorneys who have secured million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for their clients.
I am admitted to practice in all California state courts, the US District Courts across California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. I have served as a temporary judge in the Los Angeles County court system and taught as an adjunct professor at Whittier Law School.
But the credential that matters most to me is simpler than any of that. It is the client who tells me they were able to stop worrying about the legal fight and focus on getting better because they trusted me to handle it.
That is the job. I take it seriously every single day.

Excellent service
After my wife was in a accident in 2010. We contacted Mr. Cohn. Best Attorney Ever!
I was in a bad car accident and got badly hurt. I saw Mr. Cohn to help me recover my lost wages and for payment of my medical bills. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I will refer him to all of my friends that have been hurt by someone else's poor driving skills.
