Joshua Howard Abel

Mr. Abel has diverse courtroom experience.  He has prosecuted numerous short civil trials, over 150 criminal infractions, and argued in excess of 250 civil motions in both state and federal court.  He has successfully mediated cases and participated in a variety of alternative dispute resolution methods to achieve the best-possible results for his clients. Mr. Abel’s legal experience includes having worked for a large, international law firm representing major U.S. banks and financial institutions and also having worked for a mid-sized law firm representing industrial, retail, and service industry clients.  He has also represented entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized entities in a variety of legal contexts including transactions, general counsel, and litigation.

Mr. Abel served with distinction as a Field Artillery Fire Controlman in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  He was honorably discharged in 2000.   He also worked for several years as a Field Representative for a member of the United States House of Representatives.  As a Field Representative, he interacted with foreign dignitaries, state and local elected government officials, and high ranking U.S. military officers, U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives, and members of the Executive branch. 

 Mr. Abel draws upon his experience working with local, regional, national, and international companies to provide sophisticated, seasoned legal judgment for individuals, small and medium sized businesses.  Mr. Abel’s clients enjoy large-firm high-quality legal work, but with the careful attention that clients expect from a boutique practice. 

Joshua Abel graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003, where he earned a B.A. in History.  While at UCLA, his academic excellence earned him recognition on the Dean’s List.  He earned his Juris Doctorate in 2006 from Whittier Law School, where he also excelled academically and made the Dean’s List.  Mr. Abel was a member of the Whittier Law School Moot Court Honors Board and received the CALI Award for Future Excellence in Civil Trial Advocacy.  He is admitted to practice before all State Courts and the United States District Courts in California, as well as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
