Tenant unlawful detainer action self help sections/video

I didn't use The Law Offices of Ken Carlson as representation in my case, but in turn, represented myself In Pro Ser. I studied in great detain Mr. Carlsons' videos available concerning these types of cases and additionally used other resources through CEB Law, california codes of procedure, and civ...il cases already ruled on, and found myself to be the prevailing party to a dismissal of the summons and complaint by the judge based on Defendants demurrer to the action as the answer to Plaintiffs Summons and complaint. I want to thank Mr. Carlson for his free videos made available to the public and I would suggest to anyone facing any civil matter similar to mine, to obtain his services. I'm sure his professionalism, and knowledge as an attorney would be extraordinary in the courtroom as well. 1,000 Thumbs Up!!!

He knows his stuff

I found ken few months back by researching, and I was so glad that I found him. I was facing eviction during the pandemic because landlords wanting to sell, but because of ken I was able to negotiate, and leave without paying anything, and no eviction on my credit, and best of it all I’m living som...ewhere 10x better. I was scared I never had been in a situation like this before, but it all worked out at the end. Thanks ken

Mom and Pop

But . . . what about the Mom and Pop operation where the tenant who is behind was always that tenant who paid late, or was behind prior to the pandemic? The tenant who already is/was on public assistance, who did not lose that assistance, but simply just stopped paying the rent because they know the...y can. The tenant who is behind on their rent, yet all of their teenagers have dirt bikes, sports equipment, large screen televisions, etc.? The tenant who asks if they can build a fence around the mobile home, but has been behind on the rent payments by one month for over a year? How about that tenant? Does that make the landlord the bad guy just because he and his wife work 16 hours a day to remodel low income housing units to be a provider of that service, and need to by paid? We both work two jobs, and we pay thousands of dollars to make our mobile home units comfortable for low income people, we offer a rent option for purchase to help others become financially stable in their lives. Now here you are calling us bullies. I can understand calling the large corporations bullies, I have been a renter in a large apartment complex when I was a single mom. But this video is offensive to the small guy trying to make it work, and help others at the same time. Then the legislators complain that there is a low income housing shortage in California. Gee, I wonder why? It simply is not worth it if an owner/builder who works this hard, has absolutely no power to replace a bad tenant with a paying tenant. Commercial stores have the right to refuse service to anyone, after the customer has entered the store. What incentive is there for a builder to keep building low income housing? None! I expect the low income housing shortage to grow exponentially in California.

This is from a landlord of our clients, bitter at our client's success. They needed to hire a competent attorney or just work out the dispute, but they chose to play hard ball and lost.

Helping me as a tenant with abusive Landlord COVID-19 hell who renting me illegal property, Wish more lawyers were like him!

I had a hellatious experience during COVID where the landlord rented me an illegal rental and shut me out of using the washer and dryer etc stated in the lease after I moved, and he was disapproving about my disability, orientation, etc. In the middle of a stay at home order this is cruel and unusual... punishment to do to a paying tenant just because you as a landlord think your "lifestyles are not compatible" with the tenant. My original lawyer got suspended and the retainer I paid went to waste as I did not receive value for the services which were not completed and I was left hi and dry. I was starting to feel hopeless with my case and overwhelmed. Ken stepped in and with his "a la carte, bite-sized" consultations and step by step information gave me the confidence to proceed with my case. I am still early on in my work with him but I knew I made the right choice to get his help. An injustice for one is an injustice for all. Ken fights for the underdog and knows the law, code, & procedures...He is expert in tenant advocacy, I highly recommend. I am not a litigious person but what happened to me during COVID-19 at the hands of an aggressive abusive landlord renting me a fraudulent property then abusing me while I was in it was so egregious that I absolutely had to stand up--Ken is giving a clear path to prevailing against fraud. He even made suggestions to SAVE me money not spend it or waste it on unnecessary lawyer services.

The BEST Tenant Lawyer, all at a fair price!

Ken is the best! In 2013 I rented a condo in San Diego, non stop electrical issues, after several requests for repair to the property manager went unanswered one wall outlet started sparking and left large burn marks on the wall, Ken advised me step-by-step on the exact steps to take to mitigate any... owner recourse and legally exit my lease 7 months early without owing any additional money! Fast forward to 2021 in. LA and am again using his legal services to exit my lease 9 months early due to an overly hostile potentially violent neighbor who is creating a very dangerous situation and a property management team who seems to not be able to effectively resolve the issue. Key to success in CA tenant law is to follow a very methodical process, exactly how Ken and his team lay out, this is key!
