Huge Disappointment

This firm, which I paid a substantial sum, was a horrific disappointment. I don’t know if this occurred because Carlsen lost his license, but in (3) visits, he have me zero sound advice, legal or otherwise. Carlsen suggested that to rectify my housing issue, I GO TO THE HOUSE of the community owner ...to discuss his employee’s discriminatory conduct. Next, he suggested I have someone threaten to break the owner’s legs, it wss a ludicrous waste of time and money.

You can tell by the other clients' comments that this case is a bizarre anomaly. I don't know who this client is. Occasionally, a client who is upset that our services are not free will make up a story like this in revenge. It may have been a landlord, not a client, who is trying to discourage tenants from using caltenantlaw.com because our client won a big case against him/her, and this is his/her revenge. I do recommend talking to the owner first before suing, especially when a manager is the real problem. I never advocate violence or threats of violence. Why would I do that, beyond its immorality and the criminal liability it might create, rather than have the client pay for my legal services? Based upon the description provided, this may have been one consultation. not three. If the advice was so bad, why would he/she come back again and again? I have a "Pre-consultation Video" section of caltenantlaw.com where I provide many hours of free legal information and advice to tenants. My "Finding Your Landlord" video advises in the last portion to keep the landlord encounter positive, assuming his/her best intentions, NOT hurting the landlord, but suing, picketing, and telling the City Council about the owner, if he/she is hostile. That video is in stark contrast to what this person claims that I told him/her. Thank you for taking the time to read my response, and for your open-mindedness in doing so.

Inaccurate advice

The "game board" website says that you can file an Arrieta claim if the Prejudgment claim wasn't served or was served improperly. Unfortunately... if the landlord lies and says it was served and that box is checked on the writ, the Sheriff will REFUSE to accept the Arrieta claim, even if you have pro...of you couldn't have been served and the landlord is lying. The Sheriff violates your constitutional rights and makes that legal call without having the authority. Their attitude is that the "order" from the court alleges you were served and therefore they are not obligated to stop the eviction if you object.

Unfortunately, this person mistook the instructions as to how the LAW requires things to go as a GUARANTEE that the landlord would not lie, in order to win. There are legal means to correct this, but apparently this person did not have us pursue them, and just trusted the system.

He got me evicted and didn’t even refund me

MALPRACTICE IS THE ONLY WORD I JAVE FOR THIS IMBECILE. HE GOT ME EVECTED. LEFT OUT PAPERWORK SO I DIDNT EVEN GET MY HEARING. NEVER HIRE HIM

Unfortunately, judges are often too biased in favor of landlords to follow the law. Even when we do everything correctly as here, the judge rules against the tenant. Some clients believe that if they don't win, they are entitled to a complete refund, but a lawyer cannot guarantee results.

Unresponsive team, no progress after many weeks

The support of this team has been a bitter disappointment, apart from Julie's helpful responsiveness. Every appointment was late or no-show, and there's still no evidence the simple letter I paid for was actually delivered five (FIVE!) weeks after my initial consultation. It is difficult enough to ha...ve tenant/move-out issues without adding legal support challenges on top of it.

It seems that the required letter had been timely sent, but the communication went to the client's junk mail.
