Legal services

Ken's amazing associate Jeremy Cook is understanding, knowledgeable, professional and very powerful in his legal drafting. He is very shrap and strong with his legal points. I have tried several attorneys before Jeremy, all were good but Jeremy is exceptional. His client counseling and strategisin...g techniques are unmatched. What I like the most about him is his honesty If you have Jeremy as your attorney, your legal journey will be smoother.

Victim turned Victor Thanks to Ken & his Team

During one of the most horrible, heart wrenching times in my life, Brittany Torbert was there for my family. There were times where I literally felt as if I could not go about my day, due to the Landlord and his tactics towards my family. Even as I sit here to write this, I feel a deep rooted s...ense of despair and sadness at what my family and I had to endure. Our roof began to leak, water pouring down the walls, going into the sockets, sparking, not working, heater stopped working, floors rotting, ceilings mushy, mushrooms growing on my walls; I had trusted this man, and had a belief in humanity, that people are generally good and mean well and will do the right thing given the opportunity, so I waited and believed him, asking , pleading, for him to please fix the issues...until one night, in the middle of the night, my daughter's ceiling caved in on her beautiful pink princess room, crushing her bed, her pageant crowns, moldy insulation in mounds covering her floors and destroying all she loved. She could have been killed. piece of sheet rock sprawled about the room. When I called him, crying, asking for some sort of help or relief, my Landlord, made a joke of it, saying it was like the story Chicken Little. This was no joke to the little girl who lost her dream room, who could no longer have friends over to play, no joke to a family who could not use so many rooms or normal facilities due to the damage.....Then he actually told us we should have chosen an apartment if we wanted repairs made. A story of a home, full of laughter, births, dreams... shattered by lies. Our Landlord refused to fix, and even became angry, by turning off utilities at points, and trying to evict us when we sought help, and information on rights. Brittany has been there for me, teaching me about the law, her knowledge has not only been towards winning a case, but in actually helping my children and I to learn, grown, know what to do, and feel like we have someone in our corner. She has been a Rock of support, when our house was deemed inhabitable for humans by the county, and we had to stay in a motel, in hopes he would fix the issues, even during Easter .....No one could imagine the pain, heartache, and sadness that one feels looking into the eyes of their child who is going through these issues. We only tried to make it a fun adventure for them, but deep down knowing all the man had to do is what is required by a Landlord. Brittany helped me pro per, which I had no idea in the beginning of all of this what that meant, but she taught me, it means that you can represent yourself, while seeking her guidance, which really help financially, especially if you are a Mother of 5 children. Step by Step, even when in court he would continue to try to hurt us by saying lie after lie, she was there to listen, and assisted me in how to respond appropriately in ways that the Judge knew and honored because they were the proper lawful steps. The day that we won against him, won that he was in the wrong trying to evict us, was a day of glory, of justification of truth, of how the law prevails, because not only I, but my children learned that bad people do not get away with things, they saw their Mother fight for them, for what is right......and they knew that this beautiful soul, this amazing Attorney, who is only out to help people who can't do it themselves, who actually cares about people, and Justice, was by our side......This is a life lesson for them about how people are in their corner, we are not alone, there is actually a time and a place where Justice Prevails. Even after we won, this man continued to try to hurt my family and I with scary and weird illegal tactics, and she was in our corner once again. We NEVER could have known what to do, or known our rights, if not for her.

Lost

I cant find where to write you. I was tricked and some of the UD paprrs were left out of my packet. I noticed 6hours after stay of execution. I thought it was where I was going to ask for a new judge and be in control. I'm crushed and have ten days. I never had a rental agreement and now I lost a cas...e owing rent. Every statement was a lie and I have many witness. I have been harrassed for over a year collecting lots of evidence waiting for my moment. I have a journal of how they stole things from me and put my belongings outside continually. I have pictures of a huge garbage pile blocking my overhead door so I cant get my things out. A police report when they took my dryer. They brought it back and dropped it in the front yard so it would break. And today they won because I missed a detail. I didnt check all the papers and sum 130 is not there. They did that so I couldnt file on time and they won by default. My car is where I'm moving and it's not legal to drive , which doesnt matter cuz theres no gas. Please help me get control of these slugs. They just inherited a million dollars. The house I'm in is 380k and I want to tie it up for at least 2 years. That's how long I worked for the homeowner in exchange for rent according to the plaintiff. I was never paid a dime for anything I bought for the house or the 24/7 caregiving I gave for 2 and a half years. The plaintiffs intercepted the IHSS hours i would have finally received as a caregiver from the county. This can all be proven. This all goes deeper and I have journals and pictures. I want an expensive lawyer who will slaughter what these people are doing. Theres no way they could get past a jury everything is a lie and it'll be obvious. Please get this

Won a major high-stakes lawsuit, thanks to Ken!

Our backs were against the wall. We had been pushed around by a commercial landlord. He managed to get us evicted from our space - so were about to lose everything. We filed a lawsuit, but just could not afford a lawyer/firm. We were about to give up, but I decided to give Ken a call. I am so glad ...I did. Ken's model is a little different. He will not represent you, but he will give you the tools to pursue your own rights. I had seen his extremely helpful (and often inspirational) articles, and found that energy you feel from his posts to be real! I explained to Ken that our trial was coming up and that I could not afford a lawyer, and even i suddenly could, I would not be able to hire one in time. Ken, with all sincerity told me that I should go ahead and appear unrepresented, and on my own behalf. Ken assured me that he would give me all the materials I needed, and that he would roll up his sleeves with me to complete the needed trial forms (if you buy the trial prep package, you will get everything you need, and then some...). He actually worked with me almost a whole Sunday to make sure we would be ready for trial the next day (what other lawyers do you know who would do this?). I decided to go ahead and proceed unrepresented against the landlord defendant. The courts are not your friends, and will not hesitate to knock you. However, because I had Ken's help I was able to complete and file all the forms needed (and there were a LOT). I would have never have been able to get it done. SO MANY forms and procedures. That is why you need Ken's help. I am glad I took Ken's suggestion that we represent ourselves. We got a unanimous verdict from the jury and a substantial award. Don't get me wrong - trials are really hard, so I am glad Ken has those trial prep packages. I despise unfairness, and I see landlords acting improperly all the time. Backing down is not fair on you, and only emboldens landlords. BUT, you can fight back against bad landlords, and you should, even if you don't have a lawyer! Don't let landlords roll all over you. Ken will give you the tools and the tips to stand up against landlords. I really appreciate him, and I highly recommend him.

Incompetent & Fraudulent Practice

Ken prefaces by saying, it’s going to look like you’re losing, but our goal here isn’t to have our motions granted, rather we’re playing the system. That system, is a time game. Most of the folks fighting the evictions are exploiting loopholes from the restrictions on evictions and so in essence,... as long as you follow their little roadmap to finality, you milk another 6 months out of your current situation. Where you run into trouble is if you countersue, or file a complaint regarding habitability. As others have mentioned, Ken is competent although incredibly egotistical and lacks any integrity whatsoever. He’s entirely driven monetarily and will fail to communicate unless there’s a pressing reason AND he’s been pre-paid. It’s a crapshoot with regard to who you’ll end up with after Ken performs the consult. We’ve had the misfortune of dealing with Mike Hanna. Not only will you spend thousands on an eviction, but thousands more on a counterclaim suit, you’ll consistently miss deadlines and hearings, be instructed to refuse seemingly reasonable offers to settle and end up significantly worse through it all. Your motions and documents are rife with misspellings, misinformation and glaring inaccuracies—you’ll spend ages editing and revising elementary mistakes. After a year of enduring this, and at hearing how desperate we were for him to just perform, Mike suggested we file bankruptcy as a final last laugh to the landlord. So we paid nearly ten thousand dollars between multiple cases that went no where and weren’t settled, and as the final laugh we can ruin our financial situation and credit for the next five years? We’ve been garnished and will likely have no choice but to do so at this point. I imagine that in cases where landlords are in a weaker position and settle, clients end up happy campers. In cases where the landlords lawyerup and don’t back down folks really get the wrong end of the stick. I would never recommend this route to anyone after going through what we have, and I suggest you learn from our mistakes. These guys are horrendous and Ken (or Mike) no longer represent actual clients in proceedings (you’ll do all the work pro per) because they ran into some legal trouble themselves and came close to not being able practice law anymore. I suggest you do some research before making a decision. All of these folks come with baggage and a unique legal history to include run-ins with the law (on the opposite side of the scope they’re representing), bizarre complaints confirmed by their governing bodies and quirks that can only be defined by their varying levels of veiled criminality. No matter how desperate you are, these jackwagons are not the choice.
