We had to rent a home for a year. Just to get it, there was supposedly a bidding war, where we paid $500 more per month than original asking, paid six months in advance and 2 month’s security deposit. I had a hellatious experience during COVID where the landlord rented me an illegal rental and shut me out of using the washer and dryer etc stated in the lease after I moved, and he was disapproving about my disability, orientation, etc. In the middle of a stay at home order this is cruel and unusual... punishment to do to a paying tenant just because you as a landlord think your "lifestyles are not compatible" with the tenant. My original lawyer got suspended and the retainer I paid went to waste as I did not receive value for the services which were not completed and I was left hi and dry. I was starting to feel hopeless with my case and overwhelmed.
