Unresponsive team, no progress after many weeks

The support of this team has been a bitter disappointment, apart from Julie's helpful responsiveness. Every appointment was late or no-show, and there's still no evidence the simple letter I paid for was actually delivered five (FIVE!) weeks after my initial consultation. It is difficult enough to ha...ve tenant/move-out issues without adding legal support challenges on top of it.

It seems that the required letter had been timely sent, but the communication went to the client's junk mail.

Incompetent & Fraudulent Practice

Ken prefaces by saying, it’s going to look like you’re losing, but our goal here isn’t to have our motions granted, rather we’re playing the system. That system, is a time game. Most of the folks fighting the evictions are exploiting loopholes from the restrictions on evictions and so in essence,... as long as you follow their little roadmap to finality, you milk another 6 months out of your current situation. Where you run into trouble is if you countersue, or file a complaint regarding habitability. As others have mentioned, Ken is competent although incredibly egotistical and lacks any integrity whatsoever. He’s entirely driven monetarily and will fail to communicate unless there’s a pressing reason AND he’s been pre-paid. It’s a crapshoot with regard to who you’ll end up with after Ken performs the consult. We’ve had the misfortune of dealing with Mike Hanna. Not only will you spend thousands on an eviction, but thousands more on a counterclaim suit, you’ll consistently miss deadlines and hearings, be instructed to refuse seemingly reasonable offers to settle and end up significantly worse through it all. Your motions and documents are rife with misspellings, misinformation and glaring inaccuracies—you’ll spend ages editing and revising elementary mistakes. After a year of enduring this, and at hearing how desperate we were for him to just perform, Mike suggested we file bankruptcy as a final last laugh to the landlord. So we paid nearly ten thousand dollars between multiple cases that went no where and weren’t settled, and as the final laugh we can ruin our financial situation and credit for the next five years? We’ve been garnished and will likely have no choice but to do so at this point. I imagine that in cases where landlords are in a weaker position and settle, clients end up happy campers. In cases where the landlords lawyerup and don’t back down folks really get the wrong end of the stick. I would never recommend this route to anyone after going through what we have, and I suggest you learn from our mistakes. These guys are horrendous and Ken (or Mike) no longer represent actual clients in proceedings (you’ll do all the work pro per) because they ran into some legal trouble themselves and came close to not being able practice law anymore. I suggest you do some research before making a decision. All of these folks come with baggage and a unique legal history to include run-ins with the law (on the opposite side of the scope they’re representing), bizarre complaints confirmed by their governing bodies and quirks that can only be defined by their varying levels of veiled criminality. No matter how desperate you are, these jackwagons are not the choice.

Neglectful. I filed a claim with the Bar Assoc and will press further.

Monique Harris, Mike Hanna, and Ken Carlson took over $3000 from me to file a complaint. IT NEVER GOT FILED, NOR WAS IT EVER WRITTEN. Each time they mentioned that "The time you paid for has exhausted please remit another payment" I would send them an email asking for a detailed description of what w...as accomplished and then paid them. I never got a detailed description of what I paid for, or what they had done. I contacted them many, many times and was not responded to. I even made additional payments to them to cover future emails, letters, phone calls and writing the actual complaint, yet they never contacted me. I had to ask for Monique Harris for her bar assoc number 3 times. They sent me an email to ask me to "resend an email with the attachments in a particular way", then they charged me for sending and receiving the email. From the beginning they tried to upsell me to choose to litigate instead of small claims, it often felt like I was working with a salesperson and not an attorney. Go the extra mile, get an attorney you can meet with, one who has a physical address and has a Secretary or ParaLegal to help with the paper work. Working with them was a disorganised mess that resulted in nothing !

Eviction Attorney(s)

I see all these bad reviews, capitol letters, over-explained personal bad encounter with this firm and only one to blame for their bad dealings is themselves. If any of the complainers would of just read these reviews, you wouldnt have been scammed. Theres 100's of these types of scam 'n' jam attorne...ys and they usually end up with 1 too many formal complaints to the Bar. Reality with this group is 'They Will Never Be Fined, Dis-Barred (sp), will never be disciplined, and will never have anything negative happen to them even after being caught 'red-handed'. Why, the court system looks at renters/evictions as sub-humans, complainers, non-bill payers, etc. And cause the Courts/Clerks/Legal-Aides think this way, the Carlson group is shoveling out the 'scum' and clearing the calendar for real humans and meaningful cases. Im an example, I read the bad reviews, paid them over $1000 and they did absolutely nothing except argue with me on amount owed after every email, call, text, sentence, word, letter. They pocketed $1000 for email chatting, never 1 word of legal advice, not 1 form, nothing. And like all these others, filed formal complaint, proper channels. etc. and the entity that handles Attorney complaints closed the case with 'no-wrong doing' and rejected any/all of my evidence (90% of all emails were all about what is/isnt owed was not allowed to be submitted, recorded every phone call which contradicted everything they claimed to have done to assist me legally and would of proved their 100% scammers, not allowed, etc.). When you file, anytime in next couple days to 4+ weeks, they contact you with a THREE DAY deadline to prove your case against Carlson group. With emails, phone call recordings, texts, etc., i had @300 pages to submit in 3 days, while moving out, while working 8-10 hours a day. I submitted @40% only due to time frame and all rejected, not-recognized, wrong format, etc. So if you have a couple thousand dollars you just want to flush down the toilet and dont care about your case what-so-ever, hire Carlson Law Firm Group. A daily chat, even with a question on how to email them attachments will rack up, at the end of the day, an easy $500 and your original 1 sentence question will never have even been answered. Towards the end, my 2nd biggest formal complaint against them, they would email me 5,6,7,8, times in a row, breaking up 1 email so they could charge 8x$60 for what should of been 1 email. Each sentence became an entire email @$60 each time, BOTH WAYS (meaning when I responded to 1 of their 1 sentence emails, it was $60X2=$120). Bar Association that handles complaints against Attorneys said they did nothing wrong, nothing illegal, nothing immoral, they have full right to charge whatever they want even if it was a ONE word email! A 30 word email, broke up into 30 emails X$120= One stupid person who still hires this firm, even after reading this! I even offered them $5000 on top of my $1000 already paid to extend my winable eviction. They refused it. Why, THEY DONT DO ANYTHING and take peoples money by chatting with you, not by doing any type of any legal 'stuff'. $60 for a 'good-morning' email/text x2. So read before doing anything. Cant read, theres free Apps that will do it for you. Dont be a sucker like me and the rest of the 1-star raters.

Disappointment

Ken is fine. If he passes you to Mike Hanna do yourself a favor & RUN. Mike screwed up my case BIG time. He was paid to complete & file paperwork which he had a MONTH to do but just didn’t bother. He was constantly contacted & reminded about this paperwork that had a deadline, yet he still failed to ...do the work. There was no excuse/reason as to why he didn’t do it. Not even an apology. This resulted in my easily winnable case being transformed into a complete nightmare. The whole case should have been thrown out. It’s still going on. If he did the work he was paid to do, I wouldn’t be in this mess. After massively botching up my case Mike did some free work, as he should have. If he didn’t mess up so badly he wouldn’t of had to. Even then he was making a range of mistakes with paperwork, filing, WHERE to file. The number of mistakes he made is absurd, I had to point them out to him & have them corrected. He gave legal advice that was either regurgitated from Ken, wrong or he seemed like he was making a blind guess. He has poor communication. $75 per email, $6 p/min hotline; to talk to someone who doesn’t even know what they’re doing?Absolute joke. His response to most questions is “Let me ask Ken” - is there anything you do know? I’m calling your $6 p/min hotline to receive legal advice/help from you. Mike would always say “I’ll get back to you”. Never would. I’d follow up with emails+texts asking if he could get back to me like he promised. If he did decide to grace me with a response, it wouldn’t be until days later after constant persistence. I asked multiple times if he had any issues with me due to the way he was treating me + my case, only for him to deny he had; yet continued with his unprofessional behavior. Mistakes related to my case could have been realized if he put the effort into doing some research. I found legal arguments for myself just by looking online. I am not educated/trained in law, yet I found discrepancies in my case which he didn’t pick up. It’s questionable whether he actually looked through my case file. If he had any passion for the line of work he’s in, maybe he would put in some effort & find these things out for himself. I raised my concerns to Ken. Pointed out mistakes made, his insufficiency when it came to communication… I asked if my case could be reassigned to someone else. Ken denied + advised that if I wanted to get ahold of Mike I would have to call his hotline. Why should anyone be paying for “I’ll ask Ken” or to chase him for not getting back on something as promised? Money is the motive, no professional pride. Mike is a provisional lawyer under Ken’s supervision. I don’t think he’s getting the supervision needed based on his level of work, that’s if he decides to do it. This is my life that has been messed up due to Mike’s actions & lack of. As stated, Ken knew of my concerns & didn’t do much to ease them. He is as much to blame as Mike. Ken once said to me, & I quote; “I don’t think Mike explained it correctly, so I’ll explain”. Why have him working on my case (which he clearly didn’t care about) or anyone else’s if you, his employer don’t even have confidence in him? At the end, both Ken + Mike completely ignored me after having sent emails asking for help & asking if they had any issues with me. To even have to ask that question is a red flag in itself. I have a hearing coming up which they were supposed to be helping me with & there’s been nothing but radio silence. They’ve left me in a mess they essentially created. Not only that, they don’t even have the courtesy to let me know that they decided to recuse themselves from my case. If you want a professional lawyer who cares about their clients, I would recommend elsewhere. Because of their incompetence, I was on the brink of filing for bankruptcy- which I told both Ken&Mike, asking for help only to be ignored. I’ve now paid a PARALEGAL to look at my case who noticed my judgement is void & is fixing their mistakes
