Pay Attention to the 1 star reviews. They are accurate reviews.

I'd strongly suggest going with another traffic attorney in the area. Here's why. I hired Mr. Roberts for a traffic ticket. He gave me this story how he represented the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers and helped clean up his record and how knowledgeable he was doing this for over 20+ years. ...Once the payment was made, everything changed. He stopped responding to my emails. I tried to confirm if he received my payment, he ignored it. I sent a 2nd email, he ignored that. I had to call him, then he said oh, yes, you owe me $175 payment don't you! I said, no I paid you that and if you did not receive the payment? Where is it? Oh, let me check, yes I received it. After that call and chasing him a bit, he did become more responsive, however his demeanor completely changed. He told me on the phone, that I was a convicted criminal for doing a minor traffic violation (illegal turn). Every time we spoke, it was your eligible for traffic school, luckily, right? I can plead you out by getting your fine slightly reduced and you just agreeing to a guilty plea. The whole point of hiring an attorney is to get you off!!! I guess, Mr. Roberts missed that part in law school. Anyhow, how did my trial go? The Sheriff showed up, I'm sure Mr. Roberts did nothing and then he withdrew the not guilty plea and turned it into a guilty plea. Not surprised at all. Mr. Roberts also advised me not to come to court to show the judge how the cop is enforcing traffic stakeouts with a crooked sign, which is completely facing the opposite side of traffic. Which probably would have reduced my ticket by the judge. Do yourself a favor, do not listen to the 5 star reviews, they must be for a different attorney because I definitely received a zero "0" star service and level of defense from this so called "attorney." I could have probably won a bigger discount by pleading everything out in court, myself. DO NOT RECOMMEND. AVOID.

I usually do not like to respond publicly to comments; however, I believe this one needs to be addressed. I do not like to engage in a “War of the Words” as I did try to deal with this offline- but you never responded to my email or voice message. You chose to go the negative review route on all available forums. I am always disappointing when a client is unhappy with the results of my representation. I take all of my clients, including traffic cases very seriously. I feel bad when the optimum results (dismissal or reduction to a non-point moving violation) cannot be achieved- or when a client is unhappy. I apologize to you for any lapse in my communication on my part. All my clients are very important to me and I am very sorry for not being more responsive with you. As you know we spoke a great deal before you retained me about how traffic tickets were handled- some of it is worth repeating. Attorneys are prohibited from guaranteeing any outcome in any matter. (Rules of Professional Conduct) This point is stated clearly in my Agreement and our conversations. A traffic ticket only gets “dismissed” if the officer fails to appear at the time of trial, or has indicated on his copy of the citation that the matter should be dismissed. A ticket can also be dismissed if the officer agrees to it and the court accepts it. Unfortunately, this was not the case in your matter. The Officer appeared at your trial. I went over the evidence you provided. He indicated that there had been accidents at, or near the intersection- so that is why he was there issuing citations. He totally discounted whatever evidence you provided me. He would not reduce the matter to a non-point violation. The primary objective of an attorney in traffic court is to keep points off of your clients' DMV record; get the fine reduced- if possible. Unfortunately attorneys simply do not have magic fairy dust or powers to make citations disappear or prevent an Officer from appearing at the time of trial. You were aware of this with your citation- but wanted to take that chance and hope that the Officer would not show. You indicated from your research that my fees were more than reasonable. I made the decision to not go to trial because it is what I felt it was in your best interest. Had we gone to trial and the judge found you guilty- your fine would have undoubtedly been higher- AND the judge might not have granted you traffic school. If traffic school was not granted you would have received a point on your DMV record and your insurance would have gone up 15- 25% for multiple years. That result would not have made you happy. Under the circumstances, pleading you out before trial was the best option. You were aware this scenario when we spoke a few days before your trial. As part of my agreement, you authorized me to act in your best interest, which included entering a guilty plea. (see below) "PLEASE NOTE: * BY RETAINING THIS LAW FIRM, YOU AUTHORIZE US TO BE YOUR COUNSEL FOR THIS MATTER AND TO ACT IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF YOUR CASE AND TO TAKE ANY AND ALL REQUIRED ACTIONS TO REACH THIS END, INCLUDING ENTERING A PLEA TO GUILTY OR NO CONTEST AT TRIAL. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING THE FOREGOING CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY. " In the end you got a reduced fine and were allowed to take traffic school. You probably could have done this yourself- but like most people- you did not have the time, nor want to take the time to deal with the citation yourself. I never strong-armed anyone into hiring me; or not come to trial to be a witness in their own matter. I can tell you that I would have recommended the same position had you come to court. Once again, I apologize for any lapse in my communication. Andy Roberts

Misleading Reviews

I am hesitant to believe the reviews here, considering I hired this attorney TWICE and both times received service that was quite lackluster. The first case was for myself, where I had received a U-Turn ticket in a no U-Turn zone. I thought the case was a simple win, considering I had not at all tu...rned anywhere near the sign and driven far away well over the distance from the sign area... Unfortunately, it was the officers word against mine. Andrew informed me he couldn't guarantee anything. But I received no questions at all from him on the incident, or what I did, or how I could better my chances. I submitted a long written statement to him on the incident. I had to repeatedly call to find out status. In the end, no word as to why it was lost... all I got was that I had to pay the ticket IN FULL with court costs. So not even an adjustment in the fine!!! I felt that he hadn't even done much to ask what happened or even present my side of the story. The officer had lied to the court as to where I turned. My spouse also hired Andrew for his ticket for making a turn incorrectly. When Andrew called the court, he was told they couldn't find the ticket in the database as if it wasn't filed. This went on for months... eventually a good year when we just stopped hearing from him. We assumed maybe the officer just lost the ticket and never filed it. But to this day. we have no clue if that was the case. Andrew was extremely bad in communicating the end result to this day and it was money paid for nothing.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

I am a truck driver from North Carolina... I was working in Fresno California and got a ticket for going 64 mph in a 55 mph zone. I paid Andrew $475 to get my driving infraction broke down to a 59 in a 55 or dismissed all together.... Truthfully I would have been happy with either result. He did none... of the above....After my court date he tells me that he couldn't do anything for me and that I also owe an additional $500.00 to Fresno county for fines and fees. Andrew never worked on my case....he had another lawyer in his firm handle my case named Marlene Hubbell... My question is, who the heck is Marlene hubbell??? I hired andrew Roberts!! I feel so cheated and lied to! All these good reviews you read on his review list is a smoke screen. Andrew did tell me from the beginning that he couldn't promise anything..... But he also stated that he feels very very very confident that he could get this taken care of. But to not get anything is extremely disappointing. He continued my case for or five times ... And I constantly had to run him down to see what was going on. If you work As hard For your money as I do mine ... You will choose wisely and find another lawyer. Worst experience ever.

Save your money to pay for the ticket yourself

Just as the title says, do not waste your money hiring for a traffic violation. You are better off going thru it yourself. Now when it comes to Andrew Roberts, the defense I have received was that of a negligent, careless attorney. Why do I qualify an attorney with over 180 positive reviews as such?... First my pinion is that those reviews can't all by from clients. I truly highly doubt that. Then again my opinion. I received a red light camera violation ticket in 2013 and after reading those misleading reviews, I hired Andrew Roberts to help me get rid of the citation. The first communication I received from him was to make a payment right away(as quick as that afternoon as he stating) so he can start working on the case. Now 2 years later, the ticket cost me the money I paid him, the ticket citation cost, traffic school fees, a license suspension for a year that I was not aware of until I tried to renew my insurance, twice the insurance rate I would have paid provided he was not negligent and went to court and followed up instead of sending someone else and lastly time off from work for numerous trips to the dmv and courthouse.

I am always disappointed when I see a negative review. I try to do my best for all my clients. There is no guarantee that I will be successful- especially when fighting a red light camera ticket. Attorneys are not permitted to provide any guarantee under the Rules of Professional Conduct. When this client came to me he was already in collections and had a failure to appear. This was 12/18. He retained me during the holiday week and the hold was lifted on 1/2. This was the earliest date anyone could get into court. Various motions were filed to quash the complaint - but were denied by the court. Approximately 6 months later the matter went to trial and he was found guilty-traffic school was granted. An appeal was filed. Admittedly- because of a mix up I forgot to tell this client that he still had to pay his fine and traffic school fees while the appeal was pending. Another hold was placed. There was never any suspension on his license. He never notified me if he received any letter from the DMV regarding any suspension. As soon as I found out about the hold my office went back into court and had all holds lifted. All assessments levied by the court were vacated. He still has the ability to pay his fine and complete traffic school. He asked me to handle another matter which I am currently doing. As stated, I always try my best for my clients. It is hard to please every client. I can tell you that ALL of the reviews that appear here were written by former clients.

Poor Communication and Responsiveness

Retained Roberts for my wife to defend a moving violation, v.c. 21950(a) end of December 2014. Briefly, my wife (driver) made a right turn on a green light with a pedestrian on the far side (5-6 lanes) of the walkway. We weren't aware the pedestrian had to fully make it on the opposite side sidewalk ...prior to making the right turn (in a situation such as this in LA, you would be honked at for not moving along). That said, officer behind us pulled us over (none of us, 3 in the vehicle could guess why). Complaint is not the outcome of the trial but want all who are considering retaining Roberts to be aware of the lack of communication we experienced through out the process. Dec 31, 2014: With court date coming up on 1/6/15, we finally receive a response telling us the ticket we scanned over was not legible so we rescanned, then heard crickets. Also on this day, we promptly paid for his services at a BofA branch in cash and in full. Jan 5, 2015: With 1 business day until our court date, we reached back out to confirm receipt of payment and that the new scanned image is legible. Jan 6, 2015: Confirmed and told a plea of not guilty will be entered and a trial date sometime later. Jan 9,2015: Wife reached out via email again to see how things went on Tuesday, almost apologetic at this point as she felt she was pestering him. No response Feb 6, 2015: Told trial was today (2/6/15) and 'Unfortunately the Officer showed, was fully prepared, and would not agree to recduce charge.' This comment left us confused, if the officer was prepared, why was Roberts not prepared? Did not elaborate but was just told she now has to physically go to the courthouse to pay her fine. Initial phone dialogue between Roberts and my wife seemed as if this should be a rather easy case as the pedestrian was never in way of harm and my wife made the turn cautiously. Conclusion, original fine, Robert's fees for a handful of email exchanges and brief phone call.

I take all of my clients and their matters very seriously- as indicated in the 157 reviews that came before yours. Attorneys can never guarantee any result- against Rules of Professional Conduct. I apologize for not communicating with as you would have liked- but I always make myself available to all of my clients by cell (818) 519-6851. I am available to discuss your wife's matter further if you like. I appreciate your comments and will work harder to communicate with my clients. Andy Roberts
