Mathew Adam Work

Attorney Mathew Work founded Carlson & Work with the mission of making the practice of law more approachable. Mathew is a nationally recognized trial attorney, professor of law, and political advisor. Mathew also serves on the boards of Montreux, Axiom Group LLP., Nevada Moot Court, and Lakeridge Shores.

In 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, Mathew earned recognition as Top 40 under 40 nationally, voted by the National Trial Attorney LLC. In 2019 and 2020, Mathew was awarded Top 10 Trial Attorney by the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association. In 2020 Mathew was awarded Nevada Attorney of the Year by Top 100 Registry Inc.

Mathew is former outside General Counsel of PSR – the nation’s largest NFL Agency. In this capacity, Mathew drafted and negotiated contracts for the NFL’s top head coaches, executives, and personnel. As a result of these experiences, Mathew remains a trusted authority in NFL contract negotiations and business development.

Mathew comes from a humble upbringing, born in Henderson, NV where he was raised by his single mother and grandparents.

Mathew attended the University of Nevada, Reno where he earned a degree in economics, graduating summa cum laude. While in college Mathew was a collegiate athlete playing both lacrosse and football. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, Mathew was awarded a Capitol Hill fellowship, working as a staffer for congressional leadership.

Mathew then attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law on a full academic scholarship. Mathew graduated magna cum laude. While at Thomas Jefferson he earned the Jefferson Award, Wilkins Award, Cali Award, Dean’s List, and was selected as a teaching assistant as a result of his academic success.

Mathew passed the Nevada bar on his first attempt and accepted a position as a criminal prosecutor for the City of Reno. As a prosecutor, Mathew spent years actively litigating criminal cases to trial. This experience earned Mathew the experience and reputation necessary to launch Carlson & Work.

Mathew is an adoring husband to his wife, Kalie Work, a Washoe County elected official, and loving father to his brilliant and savvy daughter, Kennedy.

In addition to practicing law, Mathew is a Law Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College

Now Mathew is currently an active partner at his law firm Work Law in Reno, NV
