She took time with me that the other lawyers wouldn't

I met with Alicia to talk to her about deferred action. I talked to some other attorney who told me I was not eligible because I had no proof of being in the U.S. after I graduated high school in 2009. A friend of mine told me to talk with Alicia because she had helped her get deferred action using... Facebook posts and pawn shop receipts. I met with Alicia and she took an hour with me brainstorming about different ways I may be able to show I was here in the United States. We were able to come up with paypal transactions, Ebay purchases, Netflix rentals, and internet purchases to piece together the 3 years I was missing. She recommended strengthening my application with Affidavits of people who know me and my chuch pastor. Alicia took the time to get to know me, what I have been dong in the U.S. so that we could prove that I was here. No other lawyer wanted to do that. I was a checklist to them. Alicia told me that there may be a chance that immigration would want more proof so there was a risk in filing because I had no other proof to provide and my case would then likely be denied but I was ready to take that chance. We filed my application in January and I received my approval last week! I am so excited that I can get a job and help support my parents who have supported me for so long and I have the opporunity because Alicia didn't shuffle me out of her office because my case wasn't easy. I can't thank her enough.

Hardship waiver approved

Alicia was honest and to the point. She didn't just tell us what we wanted to hear. She was understanding of our situation and compassionate but explained that the last isn't always fair and she set realistic expectations about the likelihood of my wife's waiver being granted. When we received a co...py of the waiver from her we could not believe how thorough she was telling immigration about the hardship I was going to experience and she thought of things we didn't even think of but that represented our circumstances to immigration very accurately. You could tell that she took the time to listen to us and hear not just what we were saying but what we meant to say. 4 months later the waiver was granted and my wife was given her green card and my family can stay together. God blessed my family by leading us to Alicia and we are thankful for her hard work for us and her generosity because her fees were low and she accepted payments. We definitely recommend her.

AMAZING! I have my Greencard!!!!

I received my greencard in the mail today and it's because Alicia is amazing. When we consulted with her, after meeting with other attorneys, it was like night and day. I had a couple criminal issues when I was younger. One attorney said I could not get a green card. One attorney told me these cri...minal things would not be an issue. Alicia told me they were an issue but I could request a waiver if there was hardship to my spouse. I wasn't sure what to do, so she told me that we could file without the waiver but immigration would require one and I would have to show my spouse would suffer hardship. She was very thorough about asking about my spouse's physical and mental health and then told us we had a good change of getting a waiver granted. I was also eligible for deferred action. So she gave us the pros and cons of all options and made sure we were comfortable with our final choice. Just like she told us, we went to the interview, and immigration sent us a notice that I needed a waiver. Alicia prepared the waiver and filed it on Christmas Eve. And now today, I am legal, after more than 15 years, I am legal. I have my green card and my family feels such a sense of gratitude and relief. Alicia is great. She is friendly, and very down to earth. Her honesty surprised us because she wasn't trying to talk us into the most expensive option like some of the other attorneys, she emphasized that the risks were more important than the cost. My family trusts Alicia and we will use her again in the future and refer friends and family to her too.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
