David Black

I don’t have enough good to say about David Black, he was a breath of fresh air! a very experienced, diligent, ethical, attorney that I would recommend to anyone! He went above and beyond from beginning to end seeing my case through. His entire team was a pleasure to work with through a difficult... time.

I have been a medical marijuana patient since the inception of the state program in 2011. When I first obtained my medical card, I was allowed the privilege to cultivate my own medicine. I was allowed this privilege until spring of 2013, once the dispensaries started opening. Against my better judg...ement, I continued to grow my own medicine the last several years, and an unfortunate unrelated backyard fire last summer called the fire department as well as the police to my rental property. One of the first responding officers sensed this was a possible grow house, and in a violation of my 4th amendment, opened a closed side door into my house. From there she was able to secure a warrant, and 6 months later, myself and a friend were being charged with 5 different felonies, ranging from Class 5 to Class 4. I had never been in trouble with the legal system before, and immediately retained a lawyer at another law office, but once my charges came through, they told me they couldn't even LOOK at my case further until I paid them $30,000. I had already paid them $5,000 and they hadn't done any of the things they had said they would. At this point, frustrated, I began to research other defense attorneys. I went to a big firm in downtown Phoenix, but I just felt like I was getting a sales pitch from one of their legal aides. The guy I spoke to wasn't even a lawyer, and only seemed concerned with how much money I could get access to and if I would retain them right away. It literally felt like buying a car at a dealership. Fortunately, I had stumbled across David's profile on AVVO, and decided to make a consultation. From the very first time I sat with him, he made me me feel at ease with regards to my charges. He didn't seem arrogant or braggadocious like the other attorneys I had consulted with prior, and he charged me a VERY reasonable fee to handle my case. All throughout the case, his paralegals and himself stayed in constant contact, whether by email, text, or phone call. The prosecutor offered myself and my friend plea deals, and while the deal was great; no jail time, 2 years probation, and 100 community service, and an undesignated felony. I still felt that MY rights were violated by the police officer that just opened my door to get probable cause, and I didn't want to deal with any of the probation or fines. I decided to press on and take it to trial. David ended getting me my optimal result, all charges dismissed without prejudice. I can now move on with my life without having the fear of going to jail or a felony on my record. I would definitely recommend David Black and his entire law firm to anyone facing criminal charges or just needing some legal advice. He's a solid guy, and I always felt like I was in good hands and not being scammed. Thanks David!

My family and I sought out the help of Mr. David Black when a family member of ours (I'll call him Jr. for the sake of privacy) found himself in some serious trouble, with numerous criminal charges pinned against him. Initially, Jr.'s very own public defender was confident he was looking to serve ...the minimum of 25 years. The very first judge he stood before was very strict she and told the prosecution his charges would get him 50 years in prison. And that was almost his fate, with only one court date left until the judge made her decision, that is, until we, his family, decided to help him seek out new representation. We knew that with his public defender there wasn't a chance of freedom for at least a quarter century, so we researched the internet, made many phone calls, and finally came across a lawyer who listened, was sympathetic, and actively wanted to help and get started right away. He took the case at a moment's notice, and if he hadn't done that, Jr. would still be in prison today. Because of Mr. David Black, Jr.'s sentence was a maximum of 2 years total with a plea. If he'd gone to trial he was looking at a minimum of 7 years had he lost. The prosecution was strong because of details in the case and the criminal charges against Jr. Mr. Black briefed us via phone and at every court appearance we made, he always kept us updated with the case and the options he presented to Jr. His is exemplary in his profession, his care, and in his follow through to really be there for his client and their family. He even went out of his way to facilitate and tend to other non-related personal matters for Jr. He was a true blessing. If ever you're seeking a lawyer to trust, someone to really be by your side and give you the best outcome possible, Mr. David Black is that lawyer. I felt compelled to write this review because Jr. is out of prison now, and has written bad reviews about this lawyer, without cause. He made many false statements and needs behavioral health to work out some of his frustrations. I guess he seems to think that once a lawyer is paid, a magic wand is waved that undoes every unlawful move he made. He has an accountability problem, and Mr. David A. Black shouldn't be slandered in anyway because of it, because Jr. would not be a free man today if not for Mr. Black.
