Kelly Ann Booth

After interviewing several lawyers I decided to retain Kelly Ann Booth. I was impressed by how aggressive she was--though the retainer fee was steeper than other lawyers. I liked her personality and felt she would represent me well. That faded over time as she showed up late to my initial hearing. Sh...e never contacted me or kept me apprised of what was happening. I didn't feel like she was representing me very well so I found another lawyer. It was an expensive lesson--as I lost my entire retainer and didn't really have anything to show for it. I think she could be a very capable lawyer, but I wouldn't hire her or recommend her.

Kelly Ann did a good job handling my case. Was very knowledgeable in answering my questions. Was always able to get a fast response when I ever had a question, and if she was not available I also got quick responses from her assistant. Kelly Ann is a a fighter in the courtroom. Would definitely recom...mend.

Our family used Kelly for one of our members but ended up firing her. At first she talked a big game but that was it, just talk. She was only after the money. Once the contract was signed then came the bad service. She was disorganized and a poor listener. Her attitude was that she couldn’t be bother...ed answering questions. She was frequently trying to cut corners and do the least work possible. After firing Kelly she wouldn’t pay back money that she rightfully owed. To me Kelly is the worst kind of low-quality lawyer whose specialty is scamming people’s money but giving little in return. Very disappointed and I’d never use her again

Kelly Ann Booth is so inept and lazy that she managed to screw up the simple task of renewing a judgment. On May 27th 2005 in Second District Court in Ogden, Utah we were awarded a $30,704 judgment against two company embezzlers. After several years we located one embezzler in Kalispell, Montana. But... prior to garnishing wages and recovering our stolen money, the judgment had to be renewed for another eight years. On February 15th, 2013 Kelly Ann promised to renew the judgment. On April 26th, 2013, we called the court clerk to ensure that we could lawfully enforce the judgment. The clerk said that Kelly Ann had not completed the renewal process. We immediately informed Kelly Ann who promised to finalize the renewal process before the judgment expired in a month. But she was either ignorant of the law, too lazy, or both, to actually complete the easy process of submitting a judgment renewal order for the judge to sign and for the court to record. Then, when not avoiding our phone calls, Kelly Ann falsely claimed to have subsequently completed the renewal. But this was a lie and our original judgment expired on May 27th 2013. Thanks to Kelly Ann’s mistake, her dishonesty and her poor quality work, we lost our right to collect any of our stolen money. The bottom line is that Kelly Ann Booth was initially ignorant of the law and afterwards too lazy to make sure that the job was done right. And when we confronted her she wouldn’t even take responsibility. She just started talking out of both sides of her mouth and lying more. I regard her as a bad lawyer and as an even worse person.

Our South American timber company and U.S. partner made an agreement with Ms. Booth to use her services in a civil matter. The nightmare began with her constable company wrongly serving the complaint to someone who was not a defendant. He promptly informed Ms. Booth of the mistake and she agreed to c...orrect her error. Yet through negligence she did not. Instead, she continued to wrongly persecute him. Her error and negligence ended up causing him and us significant problems. After countless problems with Ms. Booth, on March 2, 2014 we filed a complaint against her with the Utah State Bar. On October 8, 2015 a Screening Panel of the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court caught Booth lying during testimony about her claim to have won for us a judgement in Small Claims Court. In reality, she never even filed the complaint. And her failure to do so caused us financial damage. She also lied many times about completing work on our case when, in fact, she made little effort to help us despite knowing the damage that her inaction was causing. After careful review and after hearing Ms. Booth’s false testimony, the above mentioned panel directed that a formal complaint against Ms. Booth be filed in Third District Court in Salt Lake City. On April 6, 2017, Judge James Gardner agreed with us and ordered Ms. Booth’s law license to be suspended for a year. She was ordered to undergo supervised probation and she must attend a legal Ethics School. These types of things don’t happen to good attorneys. They only happen to bad ones like Ms. Booth. Ms. Booth’s treatment of us as clients was shameful, and for it she was punished severely by the court. Despite her endless stories and excuses, as a criminal defense lawyer she couldn’t even defend herself in court from her own misconduct. If your case is important, don’t take the risk. Don't make the same mistake we did. Be smart and stay away. Find an attorney whose license wasn't suspended and who isn't on probation. Information in this review is available in the public record.
