I Had to Terminate Him

Mr. Hunt represented me years ago. I was reviewing the initial court order that he ‘litigated’ today as my daughter is growing up and we need to adapt the arrangement as times change. I saw his signature at the bottom and looked him up to see if he was still practicing. I chuckled reading the or...der as it is full of things that “the parties have agreed to” of which I never agreed to and in fact- disputed plainly in court. Important things like the parenting plan, where parenting time would be exercised, and who would bear transportation costs. At the conclusion of the hearing Mom’s attorney offered to draft the final order for the Court. Mr. Hunt agreed, but signed the draft without reviewing it for accuracy, and worse, without giving me, his client, the opportunity to review it before finalizing it as my council. I came away with an overwhelming one-sided judgment, and even had to pay some of the other party’s attorney fees for mistakes his firm (McKinney & Associates) had made handling the matter. It was an absolute dereliction and I had to fire him for negligence. I settled with the partner of the firm for a reduced fee and had to re-litigate it myself (pro se) the following year to get it fixed. That was long before ChatGPT, and can only imagine what is possible in this day and age. Water under the bridge at this point, but client beware- review his work before he signs on your behalf.

Honesty and integrity and the best interest of the children

Mr Hunt helped me get through a very tough custody battle that lasted 8 years already. Mr Hunt was always prepared and kept us prepared and calm. Even when things did not go the way we hoped. He always kept the children's interest first and foremost and helped me get through the hard challenges the t...he heat of the battle and emotions play in these situations to make and accept what is best for the children. Mr Hunt went way past his professional training to be a true fried of my children and to me. Always going way beyond the normal job and taking a personal interest in the children and my needs. Mr Hunt never and I mean never charged time to my case unless it was warranted. Mr Hunt made the whole tragic experience manageable and as painless as possible. If you want what is best for your children you will not find a better lawyer or friend anywhere. Mr Hunt will be straight forward and honest. Traites that are very rare in any place or professional industry which help lower time spent on the case and help get you through the emotional rollercoaster of divorce and custody battles.
