Excellent Attorney

James went above and beyond the normal call of duty to research and resolve my complicated issue. He did it in the most effective manner possible & resolved the issue very quickly. I found his services to be excellent and above my expectations. I would recommend him to anyone.

Hire this lawyer!

Great guy. He went above and beyond the call of duty for me. Long story short I put an offer on a house in Boulder and won. My down payment was substantial and so was my earnest deposit. Not long before closing my lender refused to go through with the loan due to a problem with the HOA. The sale fell... through, through no fault of my own, and the sellers refused to sign a release to have the escrow agent return my earnest deposit. It was very stressful having to deal with this so I looked for a lawyer who focused on cases like mine and found James on this site. Honestly, I wasn't quite sure at first if he would be the right lawyer for the job given the fact that he is still pretty new. Nonetheless, he was highly reviewed and having started multiple business over my lifetime I know full well that one doesn't need to be old or middle aged to be talented and capable, so I set up a time to meet him in person and hired him on the spot. He got right on it. Throughout the process he communicated very well--he kept me in the loop on everything that was going on and answered all my questions right away. After about a week and a half the sellers caved and released my earnest deposit. Thanks to the help of my fantastic lawyer I got my money back. As always, it was well worth it to hire a lawyer to fight for my interests throughout the process. Normally I don't write reviews but he really deserves all the praise that comes his way. He knows the law like the back of his hand, he knows how to be strong and forceful when he needs to be, and he's always a consummate professional. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Drafted deed to refinance home

I wanted to refinance my house given the low interest rates. Well, it was actually in the name of a trust so the lender wouldn't do it. I found James through a referral and he got to work on it. From what he told me it was a relatively straightforward process. That's what he said but it was not somet...hing I trusted myself to do the way it needed to be done. It's was great having an expert on my side who knew what needed to be done and did it. It really only took about a week before it was filed with the county. The lender didn't have any problems so I was happy. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

Excellent, cost-effective representation!

My landlord posted a notice on my door saying I had to be out of my apartment in 3 days! I didn't know any lawyers off the top of my head who would take my case so I searched Avvo and found James. I called to set up an appointment and the next day I met with James to go over my options. After looking... over my lease, James was able to inform me of my rights and responsibilities. It turns out my landlord had no right to force my wife and me out of our apartment. I told the property manager why she was wrong and that I would fight her in court if she continued. She caved! Although I didn't have to actually hire James to help me this time, I'll definitely be recommending him to my friends and family if any of them need help dealing with a shady landlord, or need help with any real estate issue for that matter!

Outstanding job helping me deal with ADEA dispute

Last month I fired an employee due to poor performance. He was showing up to work on time, his productivity was far less than the other employees in his department, and he was missing deadlines left and right. Well as it turns out that employee thought he was fired due to his age (he was more than 50... years old). I met with Mr. Newell and learned about the law that was at play (the Age Discrimination in Employment Act) and the next steps I should take. With Mr. Newell's top-notch assistance, we got rid of the problem without giving up very much at all. Needless to say, James is now my go-to lawyer for essentially anything related to my business: contracts, advise on employee issues, some tax issues, and anything else that comes up.
