CLIENT REPRESENTATION: I am passionate about helping people find solutions and resolve issues so they can reach agreement during what is typically the most difficult time in their lives.  At the same time, I understand and prepare for the fact that in certain cases, it's necessary to go to court and have a judge make decisions about issues that simply cannot be agreed upon.  When going to, and preparing for, court, I aggressively represent my client's interests so the best results can be obtained.  I pride myself on being completely prepared for court as there are always surprises that come up.  It's also crucial that my client is prepared and knowledgeable about what is going to happen in court so that his/her testimony is on point, truthful, accurate and credible.

My practice has been focused on family law in Boulder, Denver, Adams, Broomfield, Jefferson, and Larimer Counties for over 30 years.  I have been representing clients and performing mediations and arbitrations during that time.  I understand how difficult it is for people going through the dissolution and post-dissolution process and will tailor my representation of you, or your mediation or arbitration process accordingly.

During my many years of practice, I have been able to settle most cases without causing unnecessary damage to future relationships.  I have an undergraduate degree in Finance.  I understand and am comfortable dealing with complex financial issues that often arise in cases.

MEDIATION:  In all family law cases, whether initially, or in subsequent proceedings, Colorado courts require that parties mediate before seeking relief in court.  I have been mediating and arbitrating family law cases for over 20 years.  My approach tends to be focused and to the point, while at the same time understanding that these are emotionally difficult times for people, and sensitivity to all that is going on is very important.  I listen carefully to what the parties are saying and feeling, and work to help them reach agreements that are in the best interests of their families.  It's always a great risk, financially and otherwise, to present important, life altering decisions to a judge who may only hear the parties speak for a few hours before making these important decisions for the parties.

 Evening and weekend appointments available.

More than an attorney!
Guy is the epitome of integrity and his rectitude is evident from start to finish. More than a seasoned attorney, Guy is a friend who has an instinct to listen when appropriate, yet one can always count on him to talk one off the ledge. I am beyond grateful for his guidance, support, expertise and friendship. With every step in the journey, he was spot on - karma prevails!

He has earned every one of those stars I just rated him in.
Guy Greenstein was the best choice I could have made in terms of representation for my divorce. His billing policies were more than fair and I never felt like there was a stopwatch running every time we’d speak regarding my case. His retainer was very reasonable and his up front estimates were dead on, no hidden fees, ancillary billing or “nickel and dime charges”. The only additional costs I incurred were filing fees, my retainer was what the final totals added up to. He also very thorough on the initial consultation so by the time the consult ended he informed me of the potential exposures I had, the best way to address them and, in the end, it went exactly as he said it would. Guy also had a resource pool for other issues that I had such as the need for tax filings. He made sure that I was put in touch with the appropriate type of representation, tax lawyer or CPA, so he is knowledgeable enough in other areas that he does not personally handle and had recommendations for those people he knows that can handle them for me. At no time was I every treated like a case, I was always a treated like I was a top notch client. He never passed me off onto others and was ready with assistance for situations I thought might be happening, both real and imagined. There were no concerns too small for him to address and was willing, at any time, to step in and handle the communications with my ex and handled them very well. He did his best to keep things calm and peaceful with no added drama. While it was, for the most part amicable in the sense we agreed on the end result, discussing it directly was not always productive so he would handle things at those times and do it so well that she was at ease as well. Lastly, while the divorce is not yet final, all the paperwork and legal issues have been settled he has remained in the loop for the tax filings and he’s actively monitoring it. When it looked like there might have been an issue he chimed in immediately and assured me that if need be, he could and would step back into the situation to see to it that it reaches the agreed upon result. He did this proactively, without any requests being made by me or my accountant. His attention to this is not a matter of adding to his fees, but I believe it is out of his dedication to seeing this process through. Every email I send in regards to the divorce, I copy him on knowing that he will be there if I need him to be. When you hire Guy, you have hired a lawyer to be sure, but you have also hired an advocate. Everything he does is planned, timed and executed in a manner consistent with getting me the results I wanted. While keeping things civil and low key throughout, I never had cause for concern that if need be, he could and would apply the right amount of pressure to keep things on track. From a VERY grateful client

Trusted counsel…great advocate, mediator, negotiator……great results!!!! Outstanding!
Guy Greenstein is an incredibly talented attorney with a knowledge base far beyond just that of divorce and child custody law. Furthermore, his innate understanding of human psychology was critical in his strategy to negotiate my complicated and contentious case. He not only was a huge comfort to me by being very realistic with all possible scenarios and every possible outcome, but he really allowed me to see clearly what my immediate goals were, as well as long term outcomes for a peaceful existence for my kids and myself dealing with my narcissistic ex. I had previously been in the legal hands of other attorneys who failed to understand the level of vindictiveness and deceit of my ex in his attempts to ruin me both emotionally and financially, while shamelessly using my kids in his endeavors. When Guy took over my case, I immediately felt a sense of calm without the need to second guess my every move. Guy’s steadfast temperament and ability to ensure confidence was a huge relief for me and I truly felt, for the first time, that my attorney was really looking out for ME and MY best interests. His ability to assertively negotiate in a coolheaded manner with my ex’s attorneys was unflappable. His generosity with his time and thoughtfulness was above and beyond anything I’d experienced with other attorneys. His communication was thorough and comprehensive. At the end of my case, Guy was able to provide the facts as they were and negotiated a more favorable outcome than I ever expected based on his strategic ability in accurately assessing my ex’s true motivations. If you’re in a impenetrable divorce or child custody situation, Guy Greenstein is the law practitioner you want by your side…..hands down!

Legal help with integrity
I started working with Guy four years ago. Guy has been very thoughtful and has given me great advice. There were times when some of my decisions would have been driven by the emotions around my divorce but retrospectively, I was very lucky to have Guy there as he helped me to stay focused on the key issues while minimizing collateral damage. Guy was always available to answer any questions and was able to work with my ex-wife's attorney in a constructive and non-confrontational way resulting in an equitable settlement. I say with confidence that Guy is an ethical attorney whose primary goal is to do what is best for his client and in my case, for my children. He promotes an approach of fairness to all involved. Over time, once the emotions have settled down, it became more clear that this approach was the best. I am very happy that I found Guy and recommend him without reservation.

Good local Louisville lawyer!
I hired Guy as my divorce attorney after firing a different one who was much higher priced, much less responsive, and gave me some poor advice that could have ended up costing me thousands because of his lack of attention to the details of my case. Guy was reasonably priced, was responsive, paid attention to the details of my case and worked to find a solution with my ex-wife's attorney that was a fair settlement. He didn't inflame the situation and make it worse. He reminded me of the costs of going to trial and helped me keep things in perspective. I like that he is a local Louisville guy, and has a modest office near Chipotle on McCaslin. He obviously keeps his overhead costs down and this reflects in his fees as opposed to my previous divorce attorney who had a fancy office with all the bells and whistles but charged me a lot more for what were less skillful services. Guy has been in the business here in the area for a long time so he knows many of the other attorneys, mediators and judges. I felt like he was able to give me advice that was in my best interest. I'm now divorced and moving forward with my life. Guy can help you get there.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
"Guy and I have worked as opposing counsel on several cases over the past 15 years and we have always managed to find creative solutions for our clients and their families. For me, Guy is more than an opposing counsel - he is one of my top 'go to' attorneys when I've got a particularly difficult case or unique fact pattern. Guy is smart, straightforward and committed to effective problem solving. His business experience is particularly helpful for cases which involve multiple income streams. I endorse Guy as an attorney and have every confidence his mediation skills are equally impressive."
