Although I am a trained litigator, I prefer for parties to work through differences in mediation as it normally benefits everyone (especially the children) to settle differences in that way.
Attorney Van Der Jagt represents men and women, and children, in a variety of family related legal matters to include contested and uncontested divorce, collaborative divorce, child custody and visitation issues, child support, paternity, spousal support, domestic violence, and divorce modification. Culver recognizes every family situation is unique, and he will work to identify cost-effective and lasting solutions to meet his clients’ needs and protect their rights. Sometimes that means negotiation and settlement; other times, that means trial. No matter what path we take, Attorney Van Der Jagt will be a reasonable and strong advocate for you. Open seven days a week, he is dedicated to his clients and will answer and return phone calls within 24 hours.
Attorney Van Der Jagt has consistently delivered exceptional results. This is supported by the many five star reviews provided by his clients and peers. Take time to review them when deciding to seek Attorney Van Der Jagts’ counsel with your family law matter. Culver understands the stress and uncertainty that accompanies a family law problem. You can be confident that he will stand by you during this time, working tirelessly to protect your rights and achieve your goals.

Culver Van Der Jagt, I am so very grateful for the service you provided me. Thank you. This was a difficult divorce and despite the games my then husband and the opposing council played we stayed the high road and it was them who sunk themselves. You were able to present to the Court what was tr...

I can’t express my sincere gratitude to Culver Van Der Jagt! I was going through an uphill battle on a Motion to Restrict case - the case was ruled in my favor, but suddenly took a turn. I came to Van Der to assist me with a Motion to Respond on the other parties appeal. Van Der and his paralegal cam...

I was vander-jacked! Not happy!
Culver created our divorce decree and parenting plan which we took to court and Denver County filed copies as the official documents. When I went to get a home loan my pages read "1 of 10" and on page 9 read "5 of 8" and page 10 read "6 of 8" so the lender wanted the complete decree with correlated p...
My understanding is that the judge removed the excel spreadsheet which was an exhibit to the separation agreement and PROPOSED ORDER, thereby changing some page numbering by the time it became a FINAL ORDER. A certified copy of the actual FINAL ORDER proves that the order is exactly what it is. Since I was a mediator (without access to the actual court file) and the mediated agreement records I have in the form of a PROPOSED ORDER were apparently changed after the mediation (by removal of the exhibit and/or other changes), it is impossible and highly inappropriate for me to "certify" an ORDER is what it is after the changes that were made to what I did, because I have never seen the FINAL ORDER and have never had possession of that sealed document (as I am not a party to the case). The lender has apparently requested proof that the order is what it is and a certified copy of the order itself is the correct way to prove that. A letter discussing pagination of a proposed order would be of no use at all. I wasn't the judge and I didn't create the order in its final form. A mediator's word version of a proposed order is patently insufficient to certify that my copy of a proposed order in word format is the actual order (because we know that my version is NOT the actual order). I remain very encouraged that this valued client will understand that my proposed order in word version is not sufficient for me to verify an altered document that was based on that draft. Doing so would potentially get us both in trouble. I remain hopeful that he will obtain a certified copy of the order itself which should fix the problem with the lender by proving that the order is exactly as it is, including misplaced pagination references. I also hope that this response assists with the situation with the lender and/or court clerk and creates a full understanding of what exactly is necessary (a certified copy of the actual order) to accomplish this client's goals. When the clerk staples the certified copy of the FINAL ORDER as it was ordered by the judge, please don't remove the staple.
