Diana Powell has been a shareholder and Vice President of Gutterman Griffiths PC from 2002 to the present. She graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley in 1980, and attended Cornell College as an undergraduate, where she graduated magna cum laude, with Distinction in History and Phi Beta Kappa. Diana is licensed in Colorado, Texas and the District of Columbia (inactive). From 2006 through 2010, Diana has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer, in 5280 Magazine. She is a Colorado Bar Fellow, active in the Colorado Judicial Institute, a Diplomat of the College of the State Bar of Texas and a Member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. For the last two years, Diana has served as a Vice President of Colorado Collaborative Law Professionals, and is expected to be President of that organization for the 2010-2011 year. Diana focuses her own practice on high asset, high conflict divorce representation, after 20 years of practice as a securities lawyer. Diana believes that a business solution that works for the parties to a divorce can best preserve the quality of their post-decree relationships. Diana’s interest in mental health issues includes a particular focus on parenting plans for special needs children. Active as a mediator since 1989, Diana was also trained as a child and family investigator (special advocate) in 2004. Diana has never taken CFI appointments. Diana believes families benefit from resolving divorce and custody matters without the friction of litigation, when possible. Approximately ten percent of Diana’s practice involves pro bono or deeply reduced fee representation. Diana is a former member of the Board of Directors and Vice President for National Legislative Matters of the National Military Family Association.
