In January my husband and I both worked for sister companies. Officials came for someone that lived behind these companies which was property our boss owned. He conveniently left when a coworker called him to leave and left my husband and I to deal with the turmoil that would occur throughout that da...y. Was subpoenaed within a week and our world turned into something we never experienced before. Wasn’t sure where to turn to and my daughter in law recommended that we lawyer up thus bringing us to Keith & Lorfing. We weren’t prepared and were sitting ducks as we were being told that we were covered by the company Attorney which was not true at all. It was all last minute, but this practice moved pretty quick. Called them the day before meeting an agent for a subpoena. It was later in the day so I was pleasantly surprised that Russell called that evening. He took us under his wing and the day of the subpoena he asked the agent to meet me at his office. Mr. Sloan found out my husband and I were being viewed as targets as well. It was a battle of us wanting to leave our employment for some time, but the convenience of working together and our dedication left us in an endless loop. I brought up our concern and there was no more having to doubt ourselves in what anyone else thought as he let the agent know we would leave work in a week. All this even before the retainer. Russell called again on 2/6/25 and let us know they were going against the target accusation aggressively and not to worry. Throughout the process we were being contacted by Secretaries and Attorneys. All were genuinely caring and experienced, putting us at ease. The agents we met with on that fateful day also stated during interview process that we had a great Attorney in Mr. Sloan. We couldn’t agree more as he notified us on May 12th that were no longer being viewed as targets in the case. We will definitely recommend this practice to anyone who may need them.
