Exceptional Representation in a Complex Compensation Dispute: A Grateful Client's Review

I cannot speak highly enough of the outstanding legal representation provided by Kerry in resolving my case. When my former employer denied my bonus and compensation as per my contract, I turned to Kerry for help. From the very beginning, he displayed a genuine commitment to understanding the complex...ities of my compensation structure, promptly responding to my emails and keeping me informed every step of the way. With his expert guidance, the dispute was resolved swiftly and satisfactorily. His professionalism and friendly demeanor put me at ease throughout the process, even during my most stressful moments. Without his invaluable assistance, I would not have achieved such a positive outcome. I wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone in need of a skilled and compassionate employment attorney.

I really enjoyed working with this client and getting him through a stressful situation where he initially felt helpless, to a great result where he felt vindicated. So satisfying.

A Lawyer Who Will Fight for What is Right

I am a Registered Nurse who was hired by a large international specialty company with a sign-on retention bonus. When I discovered practices that I did not agree with and decided to end my at-will employment, my direct supervisor decided to violate our contract and withheld payment that was due to me... despite previous promises to pay. I reached out to Mr. O’Brien who responded quickly to my initial inquiry. He reviewed my contract and agreed I was owed the payment. He helped me educate my former employer on why it was not just the right thing to do to pay me, but why they were in violation. My experience with Mr. O’Brien was professional and courteous. If you are struggling with an issue with an employer, seek his professional advice to know and pursue your rights. Thank you for your assistance in my matter, Mr. O’Brien. I will highly recommend you to anyone in the state of Texas.

This client's happiness is my happiness as well. I realize that the results that I get for my firm's clients can have very real impacts on their their families, as well as on their own lives and their mental and emotional well-being. Proud to be a part of that.

You want Kerry on your side

I can’t begin to describe the emotions I felt after being suddenly terminated, contract breeched with unpaid overtime during a pandemic. I received a letter from my employer’s attorney outlining my termination with a measly severance amount after years of service to the company. I was devastated, ang...ry and confused. My employer is well known in my area and I didn’t know who I could trust to handle my case or if I even had one. I happened upon this firm’s website and it was the best thing that could have happened in this terrible circumstance. During the initial consultation I finally felt a sense of relief, like I truly had a friend in my corner who would stand up for me. He understood exactly what needed to be done and executed it flawlessly. His team was quick, efficient and was always in communication with me. He was able to settle the matter in no time at all and lifted the burden of uncertainty for me and my family. I just can’t say enough good things about Kerry and this firm. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Reach out, you won’t regret it.

One of my initial tasks is to take the stress off of your shoulders. Once you hand the case over to me, you no longer have to try to figure out the solution yourself. This client deserved to be paid what they were owed, and I'm so glad we could get them a great result without having to go to court.

Kerry is Exceptional (Period).

I spent over a thousand dollars interviewing lawyers in Austin. I wish Kerry was the first I met with. This guy is simply exceptional at what he does. I had a very complicated employment case involving an employment contract, stock, ownership, and unpaid commissions. Kerry didn't waste time or waste ...my money. He quickly unraveled my claims and put forth a strategy that ultimately won. I think beyond his legal knowledge, what impressed me most is how he was careful to check his strategy against my tolerance for time and risk. If you're looking for representation that is professional, efficient and effective - go with Kerry O'Brien.

We got a great result for a great client and it took just the right amount of time to build up the leverage we needed before discussing a settlement.

Remember the movie Tommy Boy with Chris Farley???

I hired Kerry for a breach of contract case. I'm highly disappointed that I hired him. You cannot trust him to do what he says he will do when you are not around. Kerry will talk like he is a tough attorney, but he is the furthest from tough. As an example, Kerry emailed the opposing attorney tha...t he was going to seek sanctions from the court against them for not providing us pivotal information... When I asked whether he did it? No Kerry didn't get the information nor ask for the sanction. Kerry's response was I was too demanding. YEP GUILTY, I'm a demanding client who asks for you to do what you said you would do. This happened repeatedly. Kerry just isn't capable of pushing the envelope. You will need to supervise his every move, including going to all court dates and depositions of the other side. Why do I say that??? Because in my case while Kerry agreed to ask the questions, we agreed he was going to ask during the deposition, he simply did not ask any of them. Kerry asked scattered questions and did not press for hard answers. Kerry asked a question during the deposition that made him look unprepared and when the response was "no". As crazy as the question was, Kerry just moved on. That is pretty much the way Kerry conducts himself with superficial questions but won't press for real answers or questions. Then there was the deposition of me by the opposing attorney. Kerry was glued to his phone and was so in-depth into something going on, after 5 minutes of opposing side doing something, they were instructed they WERE NOT to do, I the client stopped the video deposition to confront Kerry to get them to stop. Kerry jumped up like an old man caught sleeping on the couch and said, "YES I've noticed that has been going on for a while, that's right that needs to stop". There are several of other qualified attorneys, don't make the mistake I did in hiring him.

In May 2019, a federal judge allowed my law firm to withdraw from this client's case specifically because of this client's problematic private and public conduct. That federal judge later dismissed the case after the client chose to represent themselves going forward. Attorney-client ethical considerations prevent me from responding in more detail to this review, however, I have zero concerns about how I handled this case - but I do love the movie Tommy Boy.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I endorse Kerry without reservation and would recommend him to any client seeking legal counsel. The majority of my personal experience with Kerry came from a partnership dispute case in which I was opposing counsel. The case was complex in that it had multiple moving parts and the clients on each side had personal relationships outside of their partnership that created unique challenges. Kerry worked tirelessly for his clients and effectively and persuasively communicated their position. Ultimately, we were able to resolve the case without going to trial. This result was largely based on Kerry's fine work and professionalism. I have since referred cases to Kerry and have only heard great things from each person who has worked with him. If you are looking for a great lawyer who will provide you with personal attention, look no further."
