Practice areas
  1. Health care
My clients include physicians, chiropractors, dentists, nurses, speech language therapists, podiatrists, psychologists and psychiatrists, whether in Medicaid, insurance or private pay settings.

    21 years, 50 cases

  2. Litigation
I am a former state agency prosecutor and general counsel. I now use that experience to provide legal representation to businesses facing licensing and regulatory challenges. If you have issues with someone and want to sue, you will need a litigation lawyer. Whether you are just seeking settlement, or need experienced and affordable trial counsel, I can help.

    25 years, 300 cases

  3. Administrative law
Federal and state agencies are required to follow their statute and rules in order for their actions to be constitutional. Whether the venue is the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) or state or federal court, I can help. Past clients include Physicians, Chiropractors, Nurses, Dentists, Engineers, Teachers, Architects, Pawn Shops, Licensed RMLO/Mortgage Brokers, HVAC, Plumbers, Electricians, and various Professional Associations on behalf of their members.

    27 years, 550 cases

I'm a Board Certified  Administrative Law problem solver: a litigation attorney specializing in administrative law (a special area of law focusing on representation before licensing boards, regulatory agencies, and commissions). I aggressively represent and defend clients at informal settlement conferences (ISC), enforcement committee meetings (EC), the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH), Travis County district court, and the courts of appeals, specifically related to these agencies:

  • Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners
  • Texas Medical Board
  • Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
  • Texas Board of Architectural Examiners
  • Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners
  • Texas Board of Professional Engineers
  • Health and Human Services Commission (i.e. Medicaid billing & recoupment)
  • Department of State Health Services
  • Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission
  • Texas Department of Agriculture
  • Texas Real Estate Commission
  • Texas Finance Commission
  • Texas Department of Saving and Mortgage Lending
  • Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner
  • Texas Department of Insurance
  • Texas Lottery Commission
  • Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

I am also active in helping to shape Texas PIA and FOIA (Open Records Act) requests and in pursuing Open Meetings Act violations, rule interpretation, administrative rule-making, and rule challenges, and defending my clients who are subject to agency enforcement actions and administrative penalties before all local, state and federal governmental bodies.

Integrity and Professionalism
Mr. Ray will give you the best advice for your situation. It may not be what you want to hear, but Mr. Ray will not sugar coat anything just to get you to be his client then learn about your case on your dime. Integrity is a trait that I value greatly when it comes to human interactions. Our innate behavior tends to make us want to trust people when we are in need of help. Mr. Ray fully understands this and will tell you honestly he is not the attorney for your case if there is a more suitable match elsewhere. Mr. Ray is also very attentive to respond to phone calls and e-mails, which is important when minutes seem like hours when you are in that situation. If you are looking for an attorney with integrity and professionalism, Jason Ray will not disappoint.

Professional, Knowledgeable, and Persistent!
Mr. Ray assisted me with a regulatory battle against the state. My battle was won after 5 years with Mr. Ray's legal expertise, hard work, and due diligence. I am thoroughly pleased with the handling of my case and have 100% confidence in Mr. Ray's abilities as an attorney and knowledge of the law.
Response from Jason Ray January 3, 2016
This client's case went from the Travis County District Court, to the Third Court of Appeals, and then to the Texas Supreme Court. The State simply would not give up, but neither would I. Mr. Thompson's case is strong legal precedent for stopping government overreach and arbitrary agency action. Thank you, Mr. Thompson, for trusting me in your fight against the State's improper acts!

Incredibly knowledgable
Mr. Ray was lead counsel for a very involved and prominent legal case of mine, involving the State of Texas. Mr. Ray worked tirelessly and efficiently to resolve my case and was extremely professional. In spite of the complexity of the case and the amount of attention it required, Jason always kept the case moving forward in a timely fashion. I very much appreciated the fact that he researched all the potential outcomes of my suit and represented me with incredible knowledge and support. Mr. Ray successfully negotiated my case and although it was an arduous process, I am grateful to him and his team for defending me with a positive outcome.

Jason is an amazing attorney! He helped me in preventing my license from being reported to the board. I had already recommended him to a friend, and her matter was successful too. Jason is smart, knowledgeable, and very professional. He pays attention to the details. He advocates for his clients, and either he or other members of his firm are always available if you have questions or concerns. I would have Jason and his team in my corner any day!

"Jason Ray is the epitome of the complete administrative law attorney. Jason is one of the very few attorneys in Texas to have represented clients at every stage of the administrative law process: informal agency conferences, appeal of final agency orders, judicial reviews in district court, and even oral arguments at the Third Court of Appeals. More importantly, Jason prevails for his clients at every level. Having forged great working relationships with the majority of Texas agencies, Jason is able to resolve his clients’ matters in a practical, cost-effective manner. Many times Jason is able to provide the agency with the information it needs from his client, and avoid not only the future costs of litigation, but also avoid his client having the stain of a final agency order."
