About me

One of my passions is working with historical groups like the Commemorative Air Force Gulf Coast Wing and the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston.

On the 4th of July. I gave myself a present and finally took a ride on "Texas Raiders", the CAF's B-17G based at David Wayne Hooks airfield in Tomball, Texas.  "TR" has recently undergone an entensive 7 year rebulld from the ground up and she looks like she just rolled off the factory floor.

The CAF's mission is to honor the American pilots, crews and ground personnel from all branches of service, who took airplanes like these into combat, as well as to educate each new generation about their story and valor and sacrifice through flight demonstrations and personal flight experiences.  For those of you who've not yet had the thrill of riding in a Warbird, I highly recommend it.  If you couldn't tell, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

The Houston-Galveston, Texas area is fortunate to be the home to two of only eleven surviving B-17 Flying Fortresses that are still flying today.  Both aircraft are beautiful examples of this majestic aircraft.  The CAF's Gulf Coast Wing B-17G "Texas Raiders" is based at David Wayne Hooks Airport in Tomball.  The Lone Star Flight Museum's B-17G "Thunderbird" is based at Shoal Field in Galveston. These and other great Warbirds are available for viewing and visitor guest flights during airshow season from Spring until Fall. LSFM is open year round.  Please visit or and give them your support.  Let's keep 'em flying.
