Extraordinarily talented attorney, BUT....

Mr. Jackson is one of the best, if not THE very best, litigators in Montgomery County. He's a bit of a legend in the Texas Legal Community; I have a friend who is a young lawyer just recently starting out, and when he heard I was using Steve Jackson as my attorney, he said "oh wow, you got the best ...of the best." There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Jackson got the absolute best deal possible for me. He really put the screws to my ex-husband, finding every legal loophole and advantage. Watching him cross examine an opposing witness is truly a sight to behold, I actually found myself pitying my awful ex at certain moments. So if Mr. Jackson did such a great job, why is my review only three stars? Well, the bad news is that although he will be a zealous advocate in your defense, he will also apply his prodigious talents to finding and extracting every last nickel from your pockets. The man is utterly rapacious. He will walk right up to the line of what's ethical for an attorney and use what he can in order to bill you enormous sums. It was so bad that by the end of my divorce, I wasn't sure who I hated more, my ex or Mr. Jackson. It's not just a matter of him being more expensive on an hourly rate than other lawyers (although he is.) And it's not just a matter that his retainer is two or three or four times that of other lawyers (although it is.) But he will also nickel and dime you for every last little imaginable thing, like his office staff grabbing you a coffee or answering the phone. Did he send you a text message reminding you of an upcoming court date? Congratulations, that's his minimum charge of 10 minutes of time, that'll be $125 please. Did you text him back "thanks"? Well that's another $125 for him to read the message. I understand legal fees aren't cheap and you get what you pay for, but Mr. Jackson will use his knowledge (which you are required to give him in a divorce case) of how much money you have and where your accounts are located and what kind of job you have in order to convert as much as possible of your assets into his. You have been warned. So altogether, is he worth it? Well, if he's three times as good as the average lawyer but he's eight times as expensive, that's not a proportionate return on the investment, now is it? Now, if you are a mafia kingpin or serial killer facing life imprisonment or death row, or if you are a multimillionaire and there are millions of dollars at risk in your divorce? Yeah, then it's probably worthwhile to write a six figure check to Mr. Jackson. But for the rest of us mere mortals, maybe an attorney 80% as good at one-third the price would suffice.

Pleasantly surprised!

I called Steve’s office a Friday afternoon after receiving divorce papers I was not expecting. I had scheduled two consultations already for the following week and Steve answer the phone himself and told me to come over to his office right away. I was impressed, however, as I got to know him in a one... hour conversation I tough he was too big for my tiny little divorce case, nevertheless I hired him on the spot. Well, let me tell you, when he says he is on your side it doesn’t matter what amount of money you are paying him.... he IS on your side. Debbie his paralegal never answer one of my emails more then 20 minutes after me sending it no matter the time and she was always very kind. Steve made sure to call me whenever I was losing my mind over a marriage that I thought would last forever. He not only defended me based on what I stand for and respected my wishes but also encouraged me to keep living, to move forward and to not give up. He was never hateful towards my ex in our conversations but determined to get the results that I deserved. Again, it was a tiny case and he gave me all the attention, patience and down to earth what felt like very honest advise. I will recommend Steve to anyone that want a good team and someone that is going to tell it to you like it is. I hope I never have to hire him again, just because I hope I am never in need. But if I have to, you better believe I will never look for anyone else. I will forever be grateful I had a friendly hand when I most needed it and that is priceless.

Aggressive CPS Case

I hired Stephen D. Jackson to help with an overly aggressive CPS agency who would not stop taking bogus phone calls. He started immediately that very day. Very prepared and extremely competent. We went to a court hearing and Steve was clearly the top attorney in the room. We had an excellent o...utcome, very grateful and we would not hesitate to call him again. He made himself available, said he cares and he really does. Comforting to know that his experience, knowledge of the law and ability to handle our case was worth what he charged. Call this guy!

I found The Best 26 years ago, Steve Jackson

After the very first consultation I ever had with Steve in 1992, I knew he would be the one I would hire should I ever need his services for the rest of my life. Steve's intelligence, technical thinking, thorough research, knowledge of the law, and superior cross examination skills are the reasons ...I retained him and won. His fees are very reasonable and retaining Steve to handle a legal matter from start to finish alleviated a lot of stress from my life. We won my case. I call him to consult any legal matters to this day. He's the Best!

The Best

We were struggling with a different attorney and had to let that attorney go because they did nothing to help us. Steve and his firm took us on with a slim Chance of winning . We were Grandparents fighting for Custody against both Divorced parents. We made History on that day in trial and I will be... grateful for the rest of my life. You get what you pay for I always say. And this firm is worth every penny . Thank you Stephen D Jackson

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I endorse this lawyer. Steve is a dynamic, experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled trial attorney whose expertise and talent extends beyond the ability to manage the trial process. He's also client perceptive and strategically thoughtful. I worked as co-counsel on a family law case with Steve and will always appreciate the positive experience. He has integrity, is dependable and has a strong work ethic. In my opinion one of the superstars of the legal community."

Relationship: Worked for lawyer

"Fear is the biggest obstacle that keeps many lawyers from becoming great. As a law student, I was very fortunate the Steve gave me a chance to work under him. We worked on hundreds of cases together. Many of those cases were unwinnable for the vast majority of lawyers. However, with fearlessness and great preparation, we won the most impossible of criminal trials. I learned that to be great, an attorney must out prepare the other side, and be fearless. In a criminal trial, the defense attorney only gets one chance to make a mark upon the jury. The greatest lawyers know when and how to make such a mark. Over the years Steve and I continue to collaborate on cases together and his exemplary skill level has not diminished. Most importantly, he remains fearless."

"I endorse this lawyer. He and I worked together on a very contentious case involving both criminal and family law matters. He was always professional, prepared, and most importantly zealous in his advocacy for our client. I’m a better attorney for having worked with him on that case."
