I cannot recommend Travis Eaton or The Eaton Law Firm. I hired this firm for a divorce matter that involved no children, no complex asset division, no experts, and ultimately settled through mediation without going to trial. Despite that, my entire $3,500 retainer was exhausted and I was billed fo...r additional fees. My biggest issue was not the amount itself, but the lack of transparency. Under the engagement agreement, invoices were only available upon request rather than being provided automatically. By the time I began reviewing the billing in detail, my retainer had already been depleted. When I questioned the reasonableness of the fees and requested an accounting, I expected a professional discussion supported by billing records. Instead, I received a dismissive response focused on an AI provision in the contract and threats of withdrawal rather than meaningful answers to my questions. As someone with a Master's degree in Compliance and a professional background reviewing contracts, billing practices, and accountability processes, I understand that professionals deserve to be compensated for their work. I also understand that clients have every right to ask how their money was spent and to receive a clear explanation when fees appear disproportionate to the scope of the matter. Instead of transparency, I was met with defensiveness. Prospective clients should carefully review the firm's retainer provisions, billing practices, replenishment requirements, and communication procedures before signing. I strongly recommend requesting invoices regularly, monitoring trust account activity closely, and obtaining a complete understanding of how fees will be assessed long before a dispute arises. Based on my experience, I left feeling that obtaining answers about my bill was more difficult than obtaining the legal services themselves.

Divorce is an incredibly difficult and stressful process, and I’m very grateful for the support I received from Eaton Law Firm, especially Barbara. She was compassionate, patient, and a strong advocate for me throughout my case. I never felt pressured or strong-armed into accepting an agreement I was...n’t comfortable with. She listened to what mattered to me and helped me continue advocating for those things through mediation and the final stages of my divorce. Barbara was also a strong advocate for me when dealing with opposing counsel. She was willing to push back when necessary and made me feel that my concerns were being heard and my interests were being protected. That gave me a lot of confidence in having her in my corner. Ashley Caldwell also took the time to schedule Zoom meetings to specifically to go through my questions, which I appreciated. Travis was responsive when I brought billing concerns to his attention and worked with me on fees at different points in my case. Communication wasn’t always perfect, and there were times I needed to follow up, but ultimately I came out of mediation with an agreement that protected many of the things that mattered most long term. I’m especially thankful for Barbara and would absolutely recommend working with her, and this firm.

I hired Eaton Law Firm to represent me in a family law enforcement matter, and my experience was very disappointing. I overpaid in legal fees, yet I was never provided a detailed, itemized billing statement despite requesting them. I was also not provided with the opposing councel's evidence prior... to the hearing, which left me unprepared and blindsided in court. At the hearing, the firm appeared unprepared, key facts were not presentd, and the overall representation did not reflect the level of preparation and professionalist I expected given the amount paid. I am sharing this review so others are award of my experience. I strongly encourage anyone considering this frim to request detailed billing regularly, ensure they receive all case materials in advance and carefully monitor their account activity. I recommend skipping over this firm when looking for good representation.
