the worst attorney office

Barina Law does not deserve the minimum 1 star much less your business. You are so much better off finding an attorney office who actually does their job instead of charging you for things that they didn’t do, things they’ve already done that you’re now charged double for, and overcharging on things ...and when you question it- they won’t give an answer. Maggie is the worst paralegal and the most unprofessional person. Every time we had a phone call or meeting she would “choke” on the food she was eating or her drink and wouldn’t respond to my questions or concerns. She barely communicated and filed many things without my knowledge of what was being filed and for the original filing of my served papers, THERE WAS INCORRECT INFO that I didn’t see until asking for my case file to give to my new attorney… because she NEVER kept me in the loop when filing things on MINE and MY SONS behalf. She was always interrupting me and almost every in person meeting would talk about other clients and their cases (Bobby Barina also did this multiple times I was in the office-walking around spreading clients business). Almost every single appointment I had, I would show up to the office or be waiting for the phone call and it wasn’t until after my appointment time had passed did I have to question her and was told that my attorney was out sick or had to go to a hearing etc, yet never could I have communication prior to. All of the emails I asked to be forwarded to my attorney, she never did. Actually she hardly filled my attorney in on anything because when I finally saw him at the hearings, due to never getting an appointment with him, he would have no clue what I was talking about. One of my last missed phone call appointments, she hung up on me when I was upset due to taking off work and never even having my appointment with a hearing a couple days after and didn’t know what to even expect and her lack of communication yet again. She was rude, lied to me MANY times, and in my opinion, should not be someone you have on your team representing your name. I can’t tell you how many times I had to call up there or email (to which there was many she just didn’t respond to and then essentially called me a liar because ‘she responded to all of them’) just to get info on my case because she severely lacks communication skills but I’ve found it was a way to rack up more money on my trust because she could do whatever and not have to answer for it. And not just her apparently. The whole office is like that. Melissa could never give me an answer on my concerns with appointments or anything general office related, as if she had no knowledge of how to do her job, and lied to my face many times and acted as if I was stupid. When my attorney was no longer at the firm, I had to inquire about it and about my case before they would tell me. Then when I decided to hire another attorney due to that and also because they’ve done nothing I’ve asked, they sent me a bill that took over half of my trust money out, to rescan things and a bunch of other bs made up things to take more of my money, things they’ve already done (they scanned my original copy stuff in months ago) and then when I emailed and told them that was ridiculous and I will not be charged for that, they had no care in the world. They actually didn’t even respond until I had to email again about getting my money. And that was Bobby Barina and Brittany- charging me for bs things to take more money. I could go on and on, in depth, of every single issue I’ve had. This is by far the worst “attorney firm”. Unless you want to keep spending money for bs and have nothing done on your case, never have appointments to actually talk to your attorney, have your case sh!t talked about amongst everyone, and then not get your money back because they’re greedy people with money that’s not even theirs… do not hire anyone from Barina law. Do not keep money in your trust if you’re already with them.

Cost me my way of life!!

Can't enough bad.. Secretaries giving legal advice, hours printing copies and making promises they have no intention of filling- stay away! theres only a handful or less of attorneys in CTx I recommend, I made the mistake of using James Coleman there and he lied to me a LOT, got me in all kinds of... problems.. If I didn't have an attorney I wouldve been better off. RUN AWAY

Avoid at All Costs!

My friend currently has them as a public defender. The negative reviews are accurate. Honestly, read Bobby's comments to the negative reviews. It shows his lack of accountability. He blames every issue on everyone else, instead of self reflecting on how maybe him and his team are horrible to some of ...the clients, he isn't that great at what he does...or needs to retire...Same thing with Alexis, she acts like an attorney, but is only paralegal (which is NOT a lawyer). She flat out lied to me and said she spoke to me on three separate occasions. No, I called you three times and never got a call back. They do not come visit my friend, they have not finished going through the declarations together even though my friend has been locked up since December. They reset his court date, but the attorney has yet to come talk to my friend despite him calling the office a few times a week. Do note that my friend requested a speedy trial too. My friend keeps sending requests that the office ignores. When he was trying to get a PR bond, Bobby did not prepare or warn him on the questions he would ask. Instead, he put my friend on the spot and made him look bad in front of the judge. Once again, read his comments to the other negative reviews. That should show you how toxic this law firm is!

less than 1 star

Divorce. Did not do much of anything. Was destroyed but opposing counsel even though I had all I needed to defend my side. One staff member said they come in hung over all the time, unprofessional imo. Did not help me with my case hardly at all. Probably better without an attorney than use his offi...ce. Constatlntly changing phone numbers and staff. I know more about family law than they do I think. Read other real new reviews, not the old ones, go elsewhere! Charges for everything and a lot! Am reporting ethics to State Bar. I do not recommend!!

ALL the negative reviews are TRUE! Save your life and your money! Steer clear of these "people" or you will definitely regret it

These people are crooks. They are in bed with the prosecutors to railroad you. All the previous negative reviews are 100% correct. They start off polite and it seems like everything is positive but before long they show their true colors. They are grossly unprofessional; don't return phone calls and ...will lie through their teeth. Like the previous reviewer said the paralegal Alexis thinks she an attorney but is just a convenient idiot and the associate attorney Coleman is an absolute shame to the profession. The whole "justice system" in bell county is a racket and needs to be exposed. The judge and prosecutors are their colleagues and this is the major reason why you can't receive the proper representation you expect. They will two-step and mexican hat dance all over your 6th ammendment right. They drag their feet on your case and will intentionally procrastinate until you acquiesce to the demands of the court. As you may have gleaned from the other reviews, stalling is a tactic they often employ to withdraw from your case and run off with your money when you become frustrated with their incompetence or finally get wise to their game. I am currently in the process of composing a loquaciously verbose grievance with the state bar.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
